Any chance the Cs bring Rondo back?

The easy answer seems to be no. But it could make some sense. Rondo may want a 1 year deal to rebuild his image and could do that here. I think there would have to be a trade first though as there just are not enough minutes with Smart, IT and AB already each at big minutes for the 1 and 2 spots. But if Smart was traded, lets say in a DMC trade, it would make sense then right? Smart and most of the picks for DMC, then sign rondo and PP back and run with:

Rondo/IT
AB/Young
Crowder/Turner
PP/Sully/KO
Cousins/Zeller

I'm still a big Rondo fan and will always hope he does well and always hope he comes back someday. But sadly, this is the only scenario I can see at the moment. No point in Rondo and Smart and no point in trading Smart unless you get a real upgrade.

This is an interesting hypothesis. Thing is though I think the Cs have moved on from Rondo. I wish him all the best wherever he goes but the record shows that the Celtics played better after he left. Because of that, I don't see much reason to bring him back.

Also I don't see Sacto trading DMC anytime soon.

Let him fade into memory, guys.  We'll enjoy him more there.

When I saw they in the title, I was wondering if it meant the Mavericks.

Nope, Rondo going to the Lakers to team up with Kobe, Randle, and Karl-Anthony Towns.

Hate to say it, considering what he achieved here in the past, but what is the up side to Rondo now? Evidence would suggest RR needs to prove he still has 'it' and he seems limited in the lineups he can perform in.

Still, could all be a plot by the evil Lakers empire to get him cheap and at his best, no doubt you would take him. Can't see him fitting into the plans of CBS though. Hope he does well anywhere but LA, which would go against my principles.

I don't think Rondo IS an upgrade from Smart.

My point wasn't to say Rondo is better or worse than Smart. Just that Smart is one of, if not our highest valued asset and that Rondo could probably be had for about what we paid him before now after a disappointing season.

I wouldn't go looking to trade Smart just to bring Rondo back, but if there was a deal to good to pass up I'd look at Rondo as a replacement.

So you pay him on a one year deal and if he pans out do you pay him the type of money he'd get in the market for a long-term deal next summer when he's 30?  I don't see that happening.  You certainly aren't going to get him cheap on a long-term deal and you're not going to pay him money on a deal like the one he was on never mind max money.

Look at how Brad Stevens has shaped the offense event this season. It is a modern fast pace offense with read and react situation.
If you want Rondo back, what are you going to do? Change the entire offense style so Rondo can have his 20+ seconds possession? And who will be our 3 scorers that Rondo will make assists to?
Clearly we don't have the roster for Rondo and I don't think BS would like to go back to old fashion basketball play.
One last thing, are you ok with Rondo not playing defense the entire season and only make an effort IF you make the playoff?
Please move on. Enough of Rondo. Wish him well tho, I was a big fan at his prime and I'm grateful for what he has done for the Celtics.

Bwahaha.

I certainly hope not--and am quite confident they wouldn't.

They far too much value the culture that was established after Rondo left--as well as the style of play--to bring him back. And there's no reason to give playing time to a guy on the downside like Rondo, rather than a developing player.

There's a better chance he plays in China next season than for either Boston or Dallas.
