I disagree that Dekker would be a nightmare at 16.  I think he's a sneaky snakelike player who will score plenty...May take him a year to get comfortable though.  He doesn't need to jump high.

I don't know how his defense will be in the league.  If you tell me he'll suck big time on D then I'll add him to my nightmare list.

My own nightmares:

1) Selecting Upshaw at #16

2) Trading up to get Kaminsky (also called, "The Olynyk")

3) Trading into the top 7 to select WCS

I completely agree with 2 and 3.  In fact, getting WCS is a nightmare in and of itself, imo.

Great thread topic.

A few years ago, I wanted us to stay away from Olynyk and take a chance on Giannis. If not, I would've been happy with Steven Adams (I remember an article here on CB about Adams) or Shabazz. The year before that, I didn't want us to pick Fab Melo coz he seemed like a sure fire bust. Of course, the guy I hoped we would draft (PJ III) hasn't had much success either lol. Last year, the player I wanted us to stay away from was Doug McDermott, and honestly, I would've loved it if Exum fell to us.

This year, I haven't been following the rookies closely. I haven't even looked at mock drafts yet or anything. I guess I'll do that soon (most likely when the playoffs are over) but for now, I'll rely on the expertise of this forum. If people say Dekker and Kaminsky look to be busts, I'll keep that in mind moving forward lol

TP for your past draft preferences, haha ;D, and hey, PJ III had a number of excellent games earlier in the year, so there's that...;D

I think there's a good chance Upshaw will be a decent NBA player.  I just don't have much confidence it will be with the team that drafts him, or while he's on his rookie contract.

So that's not a guy I want to take at #16.  Worth a late 1st or 2nd round pick, but somebody will take the chance before then.

He could contribute right off the bat on a team that desperately needs his skillset... plus you have to understand what Brad Stevens can get out of his players...

Every year I have one of these. There is always a lottery or near-lottery pick that everyone else is high on that I would hate to have on the Celtics. I'm talking about players within the range of our pick that make me cringe when I think of them playing (or sitting on the bench) for the Celtics.

Last year it was Dante Exum. The before that it was...gasp... Kelly Olynyk.

This year... Frank Kaminsky. I see a plodding, unathletic, NCAA Tourny Hyped, goofy dude that wont be able to hack it against the stronger, faster, and more talented players that the NBA has in droves. 22 is too old to come of of College. Especially if the player lacks athleticism.

Who is your nightmare pick for 2015!? What draft day pick would make you question the sanity of Danny Ainge? Who do you NOT WANT the Celtics to pick?

22 is hardly too old, imo.  What's concerning, along with his lack of quickness and athleticism is his 6'9" wingspan, iirc.  What is with these white guys having short arms?  Is there something in the water, lol ;D?

Btw, I'm not saying that he'll be terrible or anything (or maybe he will be, lol ;D), but what's Oubre's appeal, you know, wingspan aside?

No step vertical of 25.5" I think I read, that is worse than Sully.

I would avoid him given that fact, he won't be able to jump off two feet.  That impacts rebounding.

I shared your opinion prior to knowing this fact.  Now I would only take him in the second round and he may drop with athletic ability that poor.

I feel like that has to be a typo be DE, right? A nine inch difference between max and no step is out of the ordinary isn't it?
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon

my nightmare would be Kaminsky or Kevin Looney...I dunno why but I see Ainge taking Looney a player with no real position that is just going to be a role player in the league if make it at all.

I want Ainge to swing for the fences and he rarely does that.

The year I wanted DeAndre, we took Giddens.

The year I wanted PJIII we take Melo.

The year I wanted Giannis we take Olynyk.

Now I'm not right all the time (no one is), but if you're not in the top 10. SWING SWING SWING. I'm sick of safe picks, lets swing for the fences.

If Upshaw is available later get him.

Some guys do not jump off two feet well.

With Oubre it's his shooting stroke, passing and creative ways he finds to finish at the rim. When looking at prospects, skill should hold leverage over sheer strength as the player can be viewed as some who will get results when athletecism declines. Someone like Stanley Johnson for example, who can stuggle finishing against college players, may find it harder to bulldoze in shots on bigger NBA bodies, but Oubre has shown that he has a knack for shooting the ball at a good angle in such instances.

Now my nightmare: his name is Mario Hezonja.
Check out his stats. I mean take a serious, good look: he hardly has playing experience (16.5 mpg this year, but well below 10 mpg the previous two seasons), he averages 7.7 ppg and is 20 yo. He also has attitude issues.
Does this look like //the player who could very well end up being the best scorer in this draft//?(Kevin O'Konnor). Is this guy a top 5 or even a top 10 pick?

The reason behind the whole Hezinsanity is that he plays for Barcelona which has in the past sent several good players to the NBA. He also had a very good performance with Croatia at FIBA's under 16 European championship in 2011. And here's where the Pau Gasol associations kick in (oh he plays for Barca, he is the star of his national team, he must be the new Euro-star player).
Not gonna happen. IMO his ceiling is lower than James Young's and the C's should stay away from this guy.

(If you want to understand more my feelings, just take a look at Vezenkov, who is taller, younger, much more experienced and a proven scorer- yet he is projected to be a second rounder just because his team, Ares Salonica, is not well known abroad- same story as Antetokounmpo- I see underrated draft prospect written all over this kid https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aleksandar_Vezenkov).

In the photo, me waking up in the middle of the night after a nightmare that we traded up to draft Hezonja.

Have you ever watched him play? I earlier in the year I saw his game vs Real Madrid and having seen him vs a team full of NBA level players I must 100% disagree with you.
