Recent reports out of Chicago state that the Bulls may move on from Noah after his lackluster and injured year.  Would you trade Wallace plus a protected first for Noah? Or would you rather use the Rondo trade exception and take Noah + a first from the Bulls without giving anything up?

What assets would you trade for Noah?

My reply depends on so many things.  First, I am not familiar with Noah's injury. What exactly happened and what is the prognosis?

He had ankle and knee injuries.  Also only has one year left on a 12 million dollar contract.

None of that is happening.

It would still take at least 2 first round picks.

Noah is still a great defensive Center, but no offensive game. The Bulls would be stupid to just give him away for basically nothing.

We would be paying Bulls to take on Noah, and why would the Bulls take on Wallace's contract, if they both expire at the same time?

Not according to this article.

According to this artcle option 2 seems the best move.  Plus the Celtics will have 2 significant expirings if they make this move.

Well I don't know how credible the publisher really is... But I'll believe it when I see it. Noah isn't just getting traded for nothing. We're going to have to send picks our way.

As great is it sounds to me, it would seem too good to be true if we get him and a 1st rounder just for a TPE. Although Noah's numbers are down this year, you need to factor in how stacked the team has been this season on the offensive end. Most of the time he didn't look to score and just zoned in on the defensive side where his numbers stayed more close to average.

I trust it. The Chicago sun times is one of the most reputable newspapers in the country.

I'm not sure, that we could absorb Noah into any of our trade exceptions though.

Noah will be an expiring contract in this upcoming season right? So saving money would be the goal for Chicago? I could see this, I guess as they have been cheap in the past. But they certainly are not going to want to just save a few mil by downgrading to Wallace.

I've liked Noah in the past and didnt watch him too much this year. I guess if the price was right and there were no better options I'd take him. A draft night deal could be good for us as we would upgrade before free agency. If we traded the TPE and picks we would have:

Noah/Zeller
Sully/Bass?/KO/Jerebko?
Turner/Crowder?
AB/Young
Smart/IT

plus whoever we draft. We might be able to in the Atlantic and get to at least the 2nd round of the playoffs with that team. And we'd still have some assets to make other moves. We could sign any FA that wanted to come here (worse case we have to stretch to spend a pick to trade Wallace) or we can look to cash in on trades. Maybe make an offer for Melo:

Noah/Zeller
Sully/Bass?/KO/Jerebko?
Melo/Crowder?
AB/Turner
Smart/IT

That team looks pretty good and would make a good destination for a top 2016 FA and top 2017 FA with the coming cap increases. Its fun to think about but it all comes down to availability and price.

There's no way Chicago gives him up for Wallace and a first.  If he did, I'd probably take it in a heart beat.

Even though I really can't stand Noah, he definitely fills a need and would be a big upgrade for us at center.

If you can get him that cheap, you really can't say no...though I'd have to cringe every time I watched him.

Yep, it actually fits into the Rondo TPE almost perfectly. Would you give all of our picks this year for him (16, 28, 33)? What about say #16 and Dallas' next year? I think I might do both of those, though I don't really value our picks this year very much. I think when healthy he's still a top 3 to 5 rim protector in this league. Hell, he just won DPOY a year ago.

When healthy, Noah is arguably a Top 5-10 force in the league, right? But...he's not healthy right now. But...that's the sole reason he'd be available, lol. I bet the Bulls won't get a better offer than the #16 pick this year (or our own 1st next year) plus maybe a 2nd rounder or two plus the Rondo TPE. If he proves healthy, has a good year, and likes it here, we'll be able to sign him longer-term. Snag him now, buy low.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Bulls trade him. We have seen many times this type of moves from the Bulls just for the sake of their cap space.
I will give the rondo TPE + clippers pick for Noah, after the approval of the Celtics' doctors. Sounds like another value to add for DA.
