With the Memphis Grizzlies getting knocked out early again in the playoffs, is it possible that he could leave? say we can sign Kevin Love or Aldridge. would that be enough to attract him to the c's? we would obviously have to move Wallace's contract in order to sign both but it could be a possibility. We could offer him a max contract where he can opt out after the first year and sign a bigger deal in 2016.

the New York Knicks and the Los Angeles Lakers I believe. We would have more assets to add players around them than those teams though

I think of all the big time free agents Gasol is the least likely to leave his original team. He went to HS in Memphis and really likes it there.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I'm not so sure about that. Randolph is getting older and the rest of the team is a bunch of role players, besides Mike Conley who is a top 10 point guard, but isn't a game changer.  Plus, in the East he would have a lot better opportunity to reach the finals. Memphis can't really add to their team because they don't have many assets.

I like that Memphis team and would like to see them stay together and make another run at it.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

I think we'd have a better shot at Marc than LA.

I think LA ends up in San Antonio, if he does in fact leave POR.

If we could land Marc early (before LA makes his decision), then maybe we could snag LA too?

I'm not sure about the Lakers cap situation, but I have doubts they could fit two max contracts with Kobe making as much as he is. They'd likely be filling the roster out with minimum contracts and D-Leaguers at that point, no?

- Philly
- Portland
- Dallas(if Ellis opts out)
- Detroit(but they have Jackson RFA)
- San Antonio (but the have Leonard RFA)
- Cleveland (only if everyone opts out so this doesnt count)

Honorable Mentions:

- New York (~30mil)
- Lakers (~30mil)
- Pacers (could get close to 30mil if Hibbert, West opt out)
- Pelicans (if Gordon opts out ~25mil)
- Memphis (if Green opts out ~25mil)
- Phoenix (~25 with Knight RFA)
- Orlando (~25 with Harris RFA)
- Atlanta (~25)

I would skip.

He has not been able to lift his team past the 2nd round for several years now

Yet he will want to get paid as the guy "who can" . He is aging fast, will be dealing with injuries more and more soon.

skip

If this was a vet team, I'd be all up for Marc, but honestly not really interested in spending what he will be owed.

Keep targeting younger players.

No reason for him to come here. I am shocked that are people that wouldn't want us to see him sign us, though. If for some reason he really liked the celtics, I would love him.
CB Mock Deadline - Minnesota Timberwolves
Kemba Walker / Tyus Jones / Aaron Brooks
Jimmy Butler / Jamal Crawford / Treveon Graham
Rodney Hood / Nic Batum / Marcus Georges Hunt
Taj Gibson / Nemanja Bjelica / Jonas Jerebko
KAT / Derrick Favors / Cole Aldrich
Picks - 2018 CHA 1st (Lotto protected), none out

Same here. He seems to have the type of game that will age well, too, since he's not really athletically-dependent. Honestly, though, I'd rather have a more athletic DJ or WCS type for our run-and-gun system, or even a Turner type who can defend down low and stretch the floor.

I agree, but still, Gasol is too good of a player to not pursue in free agency even if he doesn't perfectly fit our system.

San Antonio has nearly 34mil commited to 5 players next year. If they resign Leonard to the max (which is safe to assume), they will not have enough capspace to sign Aldridge to the max unless they dump at least some salary. If they want to bring back Ginobili and Duncan, they need to create even more capspace by trading away Diaw and/or Splitter. Not saying its not possible, but its not like SA has enough capspace right away.

Edit: If Leonard does not sign any offer sheet, they could sign Aldridge first and Leonard later on, having only Leonards QO counting against the cap I guess?
