JuSt keep him on the bench for the first 3 quarters and if it is close give him some run , saw some stats earlier today showing that the Hawks were a far better team with him actually on the court through the course of 48 mins.
Does he even want a bench role anyhow.
Plus don't want him hanging around too long may break Hondos scoring record ;)

He may sign here, but not for the vet min.  He's far too talented for that, even in his advanced age.

Draft turner upshaw... sign matthews aldridge... trade away kelly or sully and bradley... harkless is a good option at small forward

Man I sure hope so.

Especially if we can land a couple all-stars, I would LOVE to have PP back coming off the bench and as a mentor!

Agreed. This is the only way I'd want him back in Green - with a competitive core around him.

I'm sure he'd help our team as is, but it would not do him credit to come here and have to "probably" be our number 1 option.

Thoughts? To quote, Hubie Brown,
sure seems like a logical thing to me.
First, he's under contract, and second, he's in a great situation in DC. Why would he decline a $5 million option to come to a middling team in Boston?

Because Washington isn't that much better than Boston...because his heart is still in Boston...and because Boston is locked and loaded to be a player in the offseason and put together a team that would entice him to consider coming back.

Whether it's for the vet min or more, I think the possibility exists.  But, as others have already said, we need to lock down a couple of A-gamers and THEN talk to the Truth.

can't see it.  he's still much better than a vet min player and he's proven his value to the Wizards in the playoffs so I could see him staying there while he's still capable of playing well.  Don't see PP returning until he's ready to hang it up -- maybe 2 more years

Didn't he say next year will be his last?
believe it when I see it.  hated seeing him in another uniform but was great to see PP step up in crunch time again

Vet min? probably not.

I could see him coming back for around the MLE, but that is unlikely to happen unless we add a star in the offseason. Pierce isn't joining a team whose upside is 45 wins if everything goes right.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

In fact, Washington IS that much better than Boston. The only thing we're "locked and loaded" for sure is to perhaps overpay a middle of the road free agent, anything else would mean we've been extremely fortunate.

This guy is still clutch even at his age.

I mean, look at that heavily contested 3 that didn't even count at the end of Game 6 against the Hawks...

Even though it was still in his hand, that shot reminded me so much of this one, and it's from the same spot on the court, too, including the fade.  Wow.

Yeah, pretty much the same spot. Amazing similarities between the two plays.

I agree with the sentiment, but not getting a shot off at the buzzer isn't exactly clutch.  ;)

I sure hope he opts out and comes back for a farewell tour on a hopefully improved Celtics squad that can at least make noise in the Atlantic.

I thought it was clutch in my tinted green glasses (but isn't exactly clutch)...he was only off by 0.000000001 seconds in front of two defenders. Sigh  :'(
