In anticipation of the ton of threads being created about you know who scoring a buzzer beater, I just wanted to say while I still have the opportunity: Deal with it, you know who is not walking through that door.

Still, that was a great shot and a thrill to watch it.

How do you know?

As great a Celtic as Paul has been, I wouldn't want him to come back for more than 24 hours but to retire a Celtic.

Honestly, he would suck all the air out of the room, and not let some of these kids mature.

Paul would be great as a special instructor, to maybe talk about how three great stars decided to bond together, forget person numbers, and learn to win as a team.

Sorry, but I would much rather bring Paul back and couldn't care less about the "kids maturing."

Let the kids go mature somewhere else, like Philly, Celtics Blog's favorite basketball team.

Wait... what?

this makes so little sense it is mind numbing.

I dont think Paul would hurt development of the young guys, in fact I think he could be really good for James Young in particular.

More egregious is the statement that you dont care about the development of our young guys. Thats how you end up trading Joe Johnson and Chauncey Billups. Its also how you end up as the Brooklyn Nets except you arent in Brooklyn.

I agree. It's just like KG going back to Minnesota where he can help their young bigs mature. I personally would love to see Pierce back in that kind of role.

Unlike KG, PP can still get 20+ MPG in a contender.
It's better for him to play for one.
As for hurting the development of our young guys... If he plays more than 10 MPG, yeah, I think it would.
And last but not least, Minny is the last team I would use as a rebuilding model.  ::)

Porter has developed really nicely under Paul.   Everything I read about the Wizards seems to suggest that Pierce has taking a mentorship and leadership role there.  It's almost like it's become his team.

Paul would still be the best scorer on this Celtic team even at his current age.  He'd likely start.

His per-minute numbers this year aren't all that different from his career.   Per-36:  16.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1 steal, 45%/39%/78%  ...  Less minutes and less shot opportunities playing with some nice scorers like Wall and Beal, but if you stuck him on this Boston team right now, the offense probably flows through him and he's probably still the go-to scorer.

His playoff stats so far are pretty awesome.  7 games, 29.4mpg, 15.6 points, 4 rebounds, 51%/52%/86% ... He's been shooting lights out.

The dude can still play.  Two years ago Rondo was leading the Celtics to a losing record... Rondo gets injured and Pierce takes over:  Averages 19 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists with 48%/43%/78% shooting post all-star and leads us to the playoffs.

Last year, Brooklyn started the season 10-21.   Pierce and KG decided it was unacceptable, both took more of a pronounced role and lead the team to a 44-38 record and the playoffs.

Old man can still play.  I'd love him to come back.  He's aging like Reggie Miller.  He probably has a couple years left.

Like I said, Porter is developing really nicely there.  He's actually averaging more minutes in the playoffs than Pierce.  He's definitely their SF of the future.  Pierce really looks comfortable there, but I guess it's not unthinkable that he'd opt out and let Porter take his inevitable role.  Doubt it, though.

Also, is Bill Simmons still radio silent?  I imagine it killed him not being able to tweet about Paul.   Shame.

Was so thrilled to see that shot.

No matter how old, Pierce is still the ultimate winner.  Just goes to show, you can never put a number on heart.

Really? Due to Wiggins alone, I would take Minny's young core over Boston's right now.

Also, it makes no sense that if PP were to play more than 10 mpg that it would hurt the development of our young guys.  Why?  Having a vet HOFer playing 15-20 mpg would be fantastic for this team. If anything it would help the development of the young guys.

Finally, if PP wants to come back then obviously he doesn't "need " play for a contender.
