C'mon. You have to be realistic when making these threads! Dieng is a top ten defensive center in the league with a respectable offensive game. I would give up KO and two first round picks in a heartbeat. I root for Twolves and Cetics and if the 16th pick for Dieng trade ever happened, I wouldn't watch another twolves game until Flip was out the door.
Noel
Jordan
Gasol
Bogut
Chandler
Cousins
Drummond
Lopez
Gobert
Horford
Hibbert

I would say all of these are better defenders at the center position. I also think Len, Biyombo, Asik, and Whiteside could be argued. And thats just off the top of my head. I am sure there is one or two more.
Bogut? Horford? Hibbert? Maybe offensively, but Dieng finished 7th in blocks among centers and he didn't even start the first 15 games when Pek was fully healthy. Clearly top 10 defensively.

Woah, woah, woah.  Bogut?  He's easily a top 3 defensive center in the league and arguably had the best defensive season of any of the guys listed.

Also, blocks are a pretty unreliable metric for defensive efficiency.
Well Dieng beat Bogut in blocks AND steals so I really don't know how he gets "easily top 3 defensively" and Dieng isn't even in the top ten. Plus Lopez isn't as good defensively as Dieng either.

The NBA has moved on from the time when blocks and steals (and defensive rebounds) alone were a credible measure of a defensive player's ability.

Have a look at the columns titled DWS and DBPM in the following links:
http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/bogutan01.html#advanced::none
http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/d/dienggo01.html#advanced::none

But if you aren't convinced by advanced stats, maybe you would put more weight in general consensus.  Read over the complete list of names written on NBA DPOY ballots.  Dieng is conspicuously absent, while Bogut is #6, league wide.

You talk about advanced stats and yet you argue about dpoy votes. Does it surprise you that a young player on the worst team in the NBA doesn't get any dpoy votes? If it does you should just stop posting on this cite.
CB Mock Deadline - Minnesota Timberwolves
Kemba Walker / Tyus Jones / Aaron Brooks
Jimmy Butler / Jamal Crawford / Treveon Graham
Rodney Hood / Nic Batum / Marcus Georges Hunt
Taj Gibson / Nemanja Bjelica / Jonas Jerebko
KAT / Derrick Favors / Cole Aldrich
Picks - 2018 CHA 1st (Lotto protected), none out

11 posts and you're telling someone to stop posting?  Congrats, that's a new CBlog record.

As for Bogut, he's always been one of the top defensive centers in the league by reputation.  The BB-reference has him as the top defensive +/- in the NBA for qualifying players.  Big reason for the GSW being the top defensive team in the NBA.

I still agree that Dieng for 16 would be turned down by the T-Wolves, but one factor that might move things in our favor is that Dieng's halfway through his rookie contract. Minny might rather lock up someone for 4 years rather than face losing Dieng for nothing in two years.

I think it's a bit early for that kind of calculus to really swing the deal, but you could see it being a factor.

Who knows, maybe 16 and 33 would get it done. That 33 pick is in a nice slot for a draft and stash.

Clearly top 10 is pushing it. As you said he was on the worst team in the NBA which results in inflated stats, yes even in blocked shots and steals. Nerlens Noel had like the best 4th quarter defense in NBA history this year because people had stopped trying by that time. Dieng surely benefitted from this as well.

Second, you are the only one on the planet that Ive ever met who thinks Dieng is a better defender than Bogut.

Id say you cannot argue that he is better than 9th. Depending on personal preference I think you could slot any of Horford, Hibbert, Asik, Whiteside into those last 2 top 10 spots.
