i dont think dallas want crowder really bad

They may want to spite us after Rondo.

I really don't think teams do this, especially if it is not a team in their division or conference.

Dallas could take their revenge on the Rondo trade and offer Crowder 5-6 million a season.

Would danny match?  up to what point

I must misunderstand the legality of certain moves in the NBA.

What prevents teams from bringing back a player they just had? I thought you couldn't trade a guy away and bring him back for one calendar year?

Regardless, lots of good points in this discussion. As one poster said, it's up to Crowder to sign an offer sheet. He can avoid signing other sheets and listening to offers but it'll be his agent pushing him to do so. I think he's bought into what we're doing here though. He was buried on the Mavs bench but he's more than a spot-starter here. Don't forget, that report from the Mavs was still in the midst of this most recent Rondo issue when all hopes were lost and they were down 3-0. I know it's only 3-1 with elimination possible tonight but I don't think Dallas expected Aminu to play the way he is.

But these are the reasons I wish I could just shut this stuff out and wake up once Crowder signs a deal.

I'm not sure that was the same Cuban that is paying Parsons $15mil/year for three years  ;)

If you trade a player away, you can't reacquire him until a year after the trade or the end of his contract, whichever comes first.

The Mavericks did not give Rondo a playoff share after his awkward divorce from the team.

Ouch.

The 45 mill figure should include datome and crowder qo, plus min salarly slots for pressley and babb

I think Babb was brought up to trade him later this summer.   He is not a priority to keep, I don't get the fascination.

An inexplicable love of marginal talent, particularly if it is attached to players who make the game look like hard work, is one of the defining features of this blog. Much easier to roll with it then to ask questions.

Sadly, in Babb's case it all stems from the promise shown in one game and something he has never duplicated.

The $45.67 certainly doesn't account for the Rondo or Prince TPEs, nor the cap holds for UFAs like Datome, Bass, and Jerebko.

Not sure whether it accounts for Crowder's QO, or the cap holds for picks #16 ($1.52M) and #28 ($)957K.

Here's what I got by my math:

$44.149M
-- 10 players under contract (Wallace, IT4, Bradley, Turner, Smart, Olynyk, Zeller, Sullinger, Young, Pressey)
-- the *slotted* salaries for the #16 and #28 picks
-- Crowder's QO ($1.181M)

that $44.149M doesn't include:
----------------------------------
Datome QO = $2.187M
Bass Cap Hold = $10.3M
Jerebko CH = $8.55M

Have a hard time thinking that no team in the NBA is willing to give Crowder the full MLE.

I was trying to think what Crowder would get.

At this point with the cap going way up next summer, I'm guessing Crowder's final deal is in the range of $7-9M a year for 3 years (i.e. a little less than Bradley's total deal).

I'd be shocked if he can't get the MLE (which is at like $6M now right?). Some team with space would sign him if for no other reason than to move him eventually.

What happened to Babb?

I have it at $45,960,246 with your first section, but including Babb.

I find Pressey and Babb negligible, so it would then be $44,065,694.

Then you can take into consideration the willingness to dump Wallace or stretch him, so that could be:
$33,959,839 or $37,328,457.

Now, also need some consideration for the cap hold of unsigned 2nd rounders, which I think is $500,000 per player. But not taking it into consideration at this moment, but something to keep in mind... they should be something easily dumped if needed.

So taking that into account, I put us at around $29,671,543 - $33,040,161 of cap space give or take without much or at limited maneuvering.

There is no cap hold for unsigned second round picks.

Oh OK, I think I know now. I was thinking of empty roster spots cap holds or such.

Which is also fairly typical.  ;D
