Which team do you run? You have some money to spend on R. Rondo. What do you offer him? What counter offer do you accept? We will bump this thread in the free agent period, and every participant will give the winner (or closest person to the actual number/team) a TP.

GO!

I'm the GM of the LA Lakers and it is the offseason.  I offer him 2 year, $15 mil (total).  Kobe wants to play with Rondo.  Rondo is interested.  He's always respected Kobe as a competitor.  Interest in Rondo is way down across the league for the reason's stated by triboy here:
Rondo leaves , Celtics play better.  Rondo arrives at Dallas and they play worse.
Rondo is being compared to Lance Stephenson all across the media.  Lance was playing ball at a max-level, but personality issues truly thinned out the market and he was only able to get $9mil per season.  And that proved to be overpaying for him even though his talent is perceived to be worth far greater than that.  GMs don't want to make the same mistake and NOBODY is willing to shell out a 4 year deal for him.  Rondo is unwilling to take less money over multiple seasons since he knows (thinks) how great he is and can prove that he deserves more.

We eventually settle on a one year contract at $8 mil.  Rondo wants the opportunity to play for a bigger contract.  We're OK with the short term deal because we want him to already be here and see what LA is like that way another team has to considerably outbid us (in terms of $ and situation) to get him to leave.

EDIT - Just saw that this is very similar to D Dub's post.  Oh well.  Give me one year, $6.1 mil, Bob!  ;)

gotta give Jaketwice a TP, this thread is a gold mine..

I'm the Lakers.  Seeing how Rondo has already telegraphed his move, plus no one else really wants him; I'm giving Rondo a 1 year deal for $6M.  He'll take it, knowing he'll get a big raise when the cap expands year following.  Then we'll try and parlay this years top 5 pick & Randle/Clarkson into a splashy name to go alongside Kobe & Rajon.  But like a wet paper bag, in the end the bottom falls out.
the only 'splashy' name Randle and Clarkson will get them in return Austin 'Rivers' ;D

seriously, those 2 prospects won't fetch much in terms of vet help in what would expectedly/hopefully be Kobe's last year.

Well, Clarkson did finish ahead of Smart in the ROY voting after dropping 20 in a bunch of meaningless games this spring.  Randle is still an 'unknown potential' guy, which sometimes carries more value than the more 'known potential' guys like KO or Sully.  Plus that top 5 pick that the NBA will make sure they don't lose...

I'm the Sixers. I'm waiting for Godot. I don't have any players who know much about basketball. I want to be a contender in 2017-18. I can't even get Saric to come over for 15-16.

I have a ton of cap space and would love to trade it for a bad contract and picks, but the cap is going up and no one is taking that deal next year. The only thing it's good for now is speculation.

Maybe Rondo is a smartypants who can feed my young dudes and tell them where to stand. Maybe he's is an undervalued asset. It won't hurt me much to find out. I will offer him 3 years and $30 million. If it's the best offer he gets, let's see what happens.

Worst case scenario for me is he sucks and I keep doing what I'm doing, barely noticing a 10 dollar albatross for a few years... heck I can even afford to buy him out if he turns out to be poison. Best case scenario is he makes a comeback and either ignites my team's ascent or gets me something worth more than 3/$30 to me in trade.
