Why would Minnesota want Rondo? They have Rubio.

'Cause I was appointed GM.

Indiana - offer Rondo 4 years 30-35 mil, after what this season went for him, his value went down, anything more I'd pass

Which team do you run? You have some money to spend on R. Rondo. What do you offer him? What counter offer do you accept? We will bump this thread in the free agent period, and every participant will give the winner (or closest person to the actual number/team) a TP.

GO!

gotta give Jaketwice a TP, this thread is a gold mine..

I'm the Lakers.  Seeing how Rondo has already telegraphed his move, plus no one else really wants him; I'm giving Rondo a 1 year deal for $6M.  He'll take it, knowing he'll get a big raise when the cap expands year following.  Then we'll try and parlay this years top 5 pick & Randle/Clarkson into a splashy name to go alongside Kobe & Rajon.  But like a wet paper bag, in the end the bottom falls out.

Sixers-4 years $42 million.
Why, because Rondo enjoys tanking games and tends to play poorly 3 out of 4 games. Also he won't complain if they tell him to fake an injury and go on vacation. They get to the cap floor while saying we brought in a star we are not tanking. (But we know they are)

Great thread.

It's got to be houston.. Rondo's rich and wants to win, McHale will pep talk Rondo into submission. Indiana are not going to gamble with their shaky status. I'd love to see Phil Jackson gamble though..

I think Indy, Sac, LAL  are his best suitor's , maybe 8-10 mil a year for 3 years ?
I think those teams in addition to the Knicks are his principle suiters.  I don't see him being offered that much though based on his Dallas meltdown.

possibly a 1-year MLE deal (if possible) for a team looking for a rental without either side committing to more.  only way I see him getting more money and years is if every year after the first is a team option but I don't see him getting anything above 8 mill for the first year if he's lucky.

the only 'splashy' name Randle and Clarkson will get them in return Austin 'Rivers' ;D

seriously, those 2 prospects won't fetch much in terms of vet help in what would expectedly/hopefully be Kobe's last year.

Indiana won't be interested in him. They're still quite averse at getting problematic players on their team, they wont risk it.

Charlotte trades Lance Stephenson for a 2nd round pick and uses the cap space to sign Rondo.

Any team would want Rondo and be successful with him should build a team that looks like the Celtics when he won the ring.

The Celtics team that won had 3 of the best players in the league.  A team like that wins with or without Rondo.  If you could build that team, you would just build that team.  You wouldn't build it "for" Rondo.

My prediction is a one year deal in Sacramento.  Rondo's whole thing was he envisioned himself being a FA like Melo or LeBron where he picks the team and his teammates.  That is not going to happen this year so he can play one year with Cousins and restore his value and then be that kind of FA in a year.  I don't think it will play out that way in terms of Rondo restoring that kind of FA value but I think that is what he will try to do.

So Charlotte's going all-in on building a team from before the 3 point era?  They wont' attempt any threes all year?

Should be interesting.

Yeah, your starting lineup would have to be something like

Rondo
Klay Thompson
Rudy Gay
LMA
Steven Adams

And that's just to very roughly approximate the skillset and talent-level that the '08 team had.  There really is nobody in the league with a skillset like prime KG.

I could see that, at least the one year deal with the Lakers part.  I don't know if they would trade their young players and picks though.  You can pick up enough vets with cap space to put enough around Kobe for one more run at it.  Rondo might actually listen to Kobe and play the way he needs to.

Was thinking of Sacramento as a prime landing spot for Rondo. Kings brass aren't afraid to think/act outside the box, a p---ed-off Rondo would fit in with the underdog/no-respect mentality that typifies the Kings roster, and I think there'd be natural chemistry and fit with Gay, Cousins, and George Karl.

The only thing that give me pause is Darren Collison. Would he have to be shipped out? Is there room on the roster for both of them, with Collison as a 6th-man type?

I don't think rondo would fit with Karl. Rondo likes to walk the ball up and call plays. He typically plays a slower paced game of basketball. Yes he pushes it some but for the most part he walks it up and pounds it.

Karl likes a fast free flowing offense. He wants the ball to move more and rondo simply struggles without the ball.

I think rondo could have worked under mike Malone in Sacramento. I think Indiana could work. I think Miami could work if they lose dragic. I think he ultimately goes to LA with the Lakers.

I think he could thrive in Milwaukee under Kidd but I can't see him going there.

Bird likes Rondo but Indiana plans on going small and running this year.  Nobody can get Rondo to push the ball up the court.
