The real question is how long will it take to get a new head coaching job at the NBA level for Brooks.
Could be awhile....

Predictions: Thibodeau to Toronto, one of Kevin Ollie or Billy Donovan to OKC, Jay Larranaga to Chicago, Dwane Casey to Denver, Mike Malone to Orlando. Where does Brooks go?

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

Cap space: $24 mil.

If Washington advances to the Conference Finals, will Wittman still be fired?

ownership should be fired for being too cheap to keep harden, jackson, etc.

david stern deserves a ton of blame, too. he should have never allowed the move to OKC. once durant leaves, that franchise will be in real trouble.

Are they getting past Atlanta? I'd be shocked if they did.

This may be the best thing that ever happened to durant

In an way, they are lucky they didnt make the playoffs

They get a 'reason' to get a new coach instead of sticking with the same terrible system
I trust Danny Ainge

Wonder if Grantland will do an oral history in twenty years about the "Dynasty that Never Was" like they just did with 90s Orlando.

TP... I too was thinking about teh current OKC team the whole time. And hoping for their sake they keep it together. I really think that Durant and WB stay together... they both seem to be driven but not overcome with ego.

That story was a great read. Johnathan Abrams is a world-class writer, and probably my favorite at Grantland (and I really enjoy Zach Lowe's writing a lot).

Fascinating that Shaq was actually much closer to staying in ORL initially than leaving (assuming it wasn't revisionist history). That ORL really botched it. I guess it seemed like a done deal -- but that may be my recollection about it being so after that LAL-VAN trade.

It also made me glad we made the playoffs. That ORL benefitted from getting bounced by IND initially. It showed them what playoff ball was about and led them to adding Horace Grant.

BTW..... The stories that (a) Embiid got fined a couple times and (b) that Coach Brown wasn't thrilled with his work ethic came out while i was reading the Magic Oral History and I thought "well no **** players on your team ? that is intentionally fielding a bad team ? aren't working at 110% the way guys like Smart or Crowder are." It baffles me that the trickle down effect of Sam Heinke's "strategy" and "leadership" isn't more discussed.

I think *at best* they'll mirror those talented but rudderless NJ Nets teams with Anderson/Coleman in the early 90s. I don't think PHI wins more than 30 games in the next 6-10 years.

Brooks really annoyed me, the whole 2 man game with the thunder was just atrocious at times. As GREAT as Westbrook and Durant are they need to move the ball and spread the floor. Brooks had his stars hold onto the ball for 18 seconds in the shotclock like it's '99.

On TrueHoop TV, they just said that Presti wanted to hire Stevens in 2012.

Would they try again? Who would say no to that situation?

Stevens, I suspect.

That seems like the worst sort of situation for him to come into.

They should inquire about Ty Lue.  Or maybe Jeff Van Gundy is ready to take another crack at the sidelines?  I don't think this is the right situation for bringing in a college coach.  Somebody with a defensive reputation and some experience handling stars and an intense amount of media focus (even though it's a "small market" team).
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

too bad, we have him locked in for the 4 more years, and we are not trading him like we did with Doc

When Celtics start to lose Coaches to the Clippers and to OKC times have really changed.

Dion Waiters has played 3 NBA seasons. His coach has been fired at the end of each one.
