I feel like this is probably the worst thing to do coming into the last year of Durant's contract. Even if you do somehow find a better coach, how is that instability going to look to Durant next summer?

Brooks really was the problem with that team.  He was a terrible coach.  It was his inability to properly manage the rotation which led to a lot of the trades and moves OKC made over the years.

yeah. #1 priority has to be pleasing Durant. Would far rather have mediocre coach + Durant than good coach + no Durant

I'd say it's worth a $20 million buyout of Ollie to keep Durant.  And, yeah, I think Kevin Ollie could definitely be that coach.
