so?. the plan is to add to role players to a team of role players. why? we need players that are starting-quality, not more guys that would be coming off the bench if they were on good teams
Green is not a role player. He is a starter . Not consistently dominant but some games will go off for 28, 30 etc. Very good 3 pt shooter (41 percent avg last 3 season) good defender and has won several rings. He can provide leadership he has learned as a member of the Spurs
Davis adds the above the rim guy we desperately need. He was good with memphis and with the lakers, well nobody would look good playing for them.
Lakers already having randle at the pf spot likely wont make much of an effort to retain davis. You can bet Davis will not pick up his player option for 1 mill
We add theae two plus my draft plan and we are a better team than todays version(with the hope that Sully, KO, smart progress) . we make 4-6 seed next season, hopefully get past the 1st round and a key FA may want to join. Or luckily one of our picks will turn into a star. OR danny can pull a 2007-2008 and trade our many assets fo a star or two
Green has a solid enough resume without these exaggerations. He's won one ring (last year), unless we're counting NCAA titles now... in which case, draft Quinn Cook! No? Didn't think so. Also, why do we assume that every guy who has been on a successful team is automatically a leader?
He is what he is: a 3-and-D wing who can capably be a starter with the right pieces around him. Good player? Certainly - if we already had our foundation then I'd love the idea. We don't.
Not crazy about bringing in Ed Davis to be something he has never been before. The Laker defense was horrid with him on the floor and actually slightly better when he was sitting down (though still terrible). No way am I expecting him to anchor a good defense. Sometimes I really question your definition of 'rim protector'.
