So can we talk about how this year has exposed that Thibs isn't quite the elite coach he's been propped up as?

Why?  Just because his running the starters into the ground isn't "cute" anymore.

His offense is largely garbage, as are his rotations. On a team with Pau Gasol, Aaron Brooks, Nikola Mirotic, a 20 PPG Jimmy Butler, and the ghost of Derrick Rose, the best offense he's ever managed to cull together is ranked... tenth. That's it. He's never once had a top 10 offense before this season.

His rep was built off being an assistant on the 2008 title team, a single ECF appearance as head coach, and upsetting a gutless Nets team.

The Bulls were fifth in offensive rating in the 2011-12 season. Although I largely agree with your point.

... which makes this year reflect even worse on him. This is the best roster he's ever had as far as being balanced offensively and defensively and this is what he produces?

Chicago got some big decisions to make over this team this summer.

Move forward with either Pau or Noah as the starting center and move the other.

If they've got to fire Thibs, then hire a coach who can put in a more fluid offensive system and find a couple role players who can help transition to that style.

How many more years do either of them have left at elite levels? Pau will be 35 in July, and Noah looks like his best days are behind him. I'd love to have Noah if we can buy cheap on him this summer due to his postseason play, because he'd still be twice the rim protection than we currently have.

Two or three years at most.  But with Butler and Pau playing well, they're a 45-50 win team in the East.  With a healthy Rose and some luck, they can go deep in the playoffs any given year.

Worth going for even if it's just a couple more years.

I think their best shot at staying at the current level is to stick with Butler and Pau as the core.  If they move Pau, they will need a more radical change.  But I'm not confident they'll still be at this level if they do that.

Even with Gasol, this team goes through ridiculous dry spells and can't score.  Without Gasol, I'm really starting to think the Bulls can't win this series anymore.

I feel like we've all traveled back in time 2006, 2007, 2008.  Lebron on the Cavs with a roster that he knows isn't good enough to win in the playoffs, so he has to turn it into the Lebron show and score at least 35 a night.

I mean, credit to him because he has the talent to do it, but overnight they've become a very boring team to watch.

Ideally, yeah, but at this point he'll get a head coaching gig from somebody.  So the question is how to set up his staff so that he succeeds in that role.

I wouldn't hire him unless he agreed to work with somebody on his rotations to keep his main guys fresh, and try to implement a better offensive system that works with his defensive principles.

Watching highlights of Capela in the latest Rockets game ... I know they're just highlights, but he looks like a player.  The stat guys really loved him in last years draft.  I'm pretty disappointed Aigne chose to go with Young rather than draft Capela, who has lots of upside and would have filled a need.
