Little fuzzy where he would've fallen pre-tourney (guessing still lottery) but Lamar Odom helped himself in the '98 tourney.  That run probably also got Tyson Wheeler drafted.

I'm a big URI fan (I followed them much closer than I do now back in the late '80s and '90s).  Lamar wasn't a member of that amazing '98 team.  He was a redshirt freshman who didn't play until the following season.

You forgot about Cat Mobley, though, who got drafted and had a very nice pro career.

Edit:

Also, Lamar would have been highly drafted even if he'd never played a single game of college basketball.
He was hyped beyond anything that URI (or possibly the A 10, in general) had ever seen when he was coming into the program.  He was already touted as a can't-miss pro prospect.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

Marcus Fizer is another one that comes to mind although he already had a pretty solid college resume.  Team goes to the Elite 8, he declares, and gets drafted in the top 5 in what ends up being a horrendous draft.

Hahaha, nice one, I'd forgotten about him.  They compared him to Karl Malone  :D

The tough thing about this exercise is that the "mock draft" and "overrating from tourney performance" eras don't overlap much, probably not coincidentally.  With so much more info on prospects front offices aren't nearly as likely to put too much stock in a couple of games.

Gotcha.  I was definitely hazy on that URI team. Just remember that they should've been in the Final Four in '98 and blew that game to Stanford.

I definitely remember Odom being a pretty big deal, though.

Man, I remember the hype about Odom.  And his first game at URI he hit a buzzer beater and was an assist shy of a triple double.  I was sold, it wasn't hype anymore. You never saw stuff like that from a 6' 10" guy.  He was going to be awesome.

Sometimes I think people legitimately play their way in. It's not always dramatic either

Scala moved up to the early 2nd round and had a long career, which is about all you can ask for at that spot.

Andrew DeClerq....Florida went to the final four. The next year he was drafted in the early 2nd. It was legit.

Wade as a few others mentioned is probably the biggest I can think of.

I think North Carolina the year they had May, Felton, Marvin Williams, and McCants, they all got a bump from the tournament I think.
