The revelation about Turner is that he is the starting point and chief ball handler on offense. That allows Smart and AB to play together. And he can play with IT. It is a unique skill set that Stevens has deployed very well.I guess the weakness is his ability to defend SFs.

Evan Turner has helped us win a few games since the All Star break.
He's become a different player with his role on this team and his abilities are catered to very effectively. Much more of a playmaker and much more usage of his good passing over the last 25-30 games.

The problem with Evan 'Rollercoaster' Turner is that he's not a starter on a championship team.
At best he's perhaps a top 5 contender for 6th man of the year...and even then, he's got to play in a system that's Rollercoaster friendly.

I'm still not sure why he's still playing for us when we are rebuilding because his worth is never going to be more than (at the very, very best) a late first round pick. More likely two second rounders.

I guess he still has time to fix the hitch in his jumpshot and if he could do that and shoot 35% from 3 point land he'd be awesome.

Similarly to Bradley, he looks much better than he really is because our team is simply terrible.

In fact, it's probably an insult to mention Evan Turner in the same sentence as Paul Pierce.
Maybe if you said 'Evan Turner- Paul Pierce's ugly little one legged cousin' would be a better analogy  :P

We must have a different definition of terrible.  I'm not saying we're a great team, but we've been over .500 in our current incarnation.  That's not terrible in my book.  That's very solidly upper mediocre.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

Turner has played really well, especially since the All Star break.

And he is like Paul Pierce, only Pierce is much stronger.

And so many people here ragged on Turner all season long.

People here have ragged on just about everybody on this team. we need a couple players to fill out this roster but a lot fewer than most people think.

At the start of the season there was a question posed......"Do you think this team, as it is, could be a contender down the road"???  now I  don't know about contender but with very few moves that didn't hurt us at all, Danny has made this team very competitive. I believe we are not very far away from greatness!!!

I wish this was the case but there just needs to be a lot of development still. Do like the potential of a lot of players but they are 2 years from just being good.

At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

I'm always wary of comparisons between current and past Celtics, especially when Pierce is involved. Insinuating that ET is like Pierce minus the things that made Pierce who he is, like that step back and his 3pt shot, make me think less of the comparison.

ET looks great in this system and he's still young so who knows. It seems like he can't lead a team by himself but anyone who has asked him to do that in his career thus far have been foolish. ET has a lot to play for during this contract too, have to take that into consideration. His NBA career is on the line at this point.

Long-form is far from dead, but please refrain from paragraph-laden posts! Who wants to read that?!

Guys like Evan Turner and Boris Diaw are great to have when you have your stars in order.  If we had a star 1,2 and 5 then Turner could be a starter.  Every once I'm a while you see him show flashes of why he was selected number 2 but he doesn't have that extra level in his game consistently.

But,  I am a huge Evan Turner fan and love him in this motion offense.

Add some whisky/drunkeness to that gutless beverage that is ET. And make it on the rocks.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

While I can see what in particular from the last game caused these comparisons, Turner has not even been close to this season's version of Paul Pierce in terms of efficiency.

I think this is a fair comparison, assuming that you are excluding every measurable basketball skill known to man, Evan Turner is very similar to Paul Pierce. If, however, we are in an alternate universe and you just used Paul Pierce's name in the same sentence as Evan Turner, you may want to start drafting an apology letter to Paul Pierce, the Celtics and all Boston fans.

If Pierce is Coke, then Turner is OK soda, they shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentenced. I also hate the idea that Turner is helping Smart by taking the point gaurd duties away from him. If anything he has hurt Smart's developement, Smart has the lowest Usage percentage in the nba for a starter, lower than Pressay. Turner might pass the ball to Smart once a game if he's lucky, Smart never touches the ball if he's in a lineup with Bradley and Turner. Turner looks good because he has the ball in his hands all the time, he is still the same player that is top five in turnovers per 48, and can't hit a three pointer to save his life.
