I think CBS has brought out the best of Evan Turner this season and I don't know if it's just me but he is resembling Paul Pierce without the consist 3 pt shot or the go to fad away jumper but he seems to have better rebounding instincts than the truth.

I hope we can keep him on the roster in the future, I think he'd be a great back up small forward in a title challenger as he can play provider and scorer.

He has the all around skills that really good wing players need, minus the go-to move. I don't count the behind the back dribble in the paint...though it's a wonder hat works.

What role will be embrace?  He's not a star, but could sure lead a second unit on a really good team.

Something tells me he'll want more.

I think he'd be foolish to leave Boston under Stevens but he can't be a starter for us if we want to contend. With Smart and Bradley looking like our backcourt we need scoring and defensive length for our small forward and he offers neither but I think if he continues to work at his game he could be a 6th man contender if Boston was to challenge for a title again.

IT and ET as our 2nd unit is deadly. Our team looks like a giant great 2nd unit. I like ET sharing guard duties with IT they coexist well and capitalize on each other deficiencies.  (IT's height and ET's shooting)

l'd also rather have ET play a combo guard role and get a SF who can do what we expected from Jeff Greeen (decent 3pt. Driver/scorer , "HEART"

Imagine if we get a big an can push Zeller into that unit with KO. Our team looks like a giant great 2nd unit. I remeber a "Spurs Lite" thread awhile back. Honestly its starting to feel like that

I don't think he's the Diet Paul Pierce.

The (Coke) Zero Paul Pierce, maybe.

I actually hope we increase his trade value, and trade him for more picks/assets.

Turner has done well for Brad Stevens, but I don't see him as a part of our future. He's a good passer, but he doesn't have good handles, can't defend as well, and he can't space the floor.

I do like what ET has done for us. He isn't a starter though, and the more assets and picks we get, the higher chance of us pulling a miracle trade for something better.

While I respect your opinion, I just want to say I think Evan has great handles, he just LOOKS like her doesn't. I mean he's 6'7 and can handle the ball like that. THAT itself is impressive. He may look out of control but ET is always in control.

Turner has played really well, especially since the All Star break.

And he is like Paul Pierce, only Pierce is much stronger.

And so many people here ragged on Turner all season long.

He's been pretty much the same guy pre and post all-star break. He's just playing more minutes because Jeff Green/Rondo have been traded opening up more time for him. Just about 6 minutes more per game.

He's like Pierce, if Pierce couldn't shoot, couldn't draw fouls, was a worse passer, and turned it over more.

Doubtful, he's already shown he can put up "good" counting numbers on bad teams (Philly/Boston)

His efficiency and rate statistics still suck.

The problem with Turner is twofold. One, he is bad defensively, so he needs to be a major plus on offense to justify PT. Second, on offense he needs to have the ball to be effective, but he isn't super effective with it, either. That's okay in our current lineup, as we don't really have superior ball-handler options (except now for IT), and it's okay in a bench role - but it's not like he'll ever be a 6th-man-of-the-year candidate, either.

In contrast, Pierce was good defensively, he was good off the ball due to his shooting prowess, and with the ball in his hands he was outstanding due to his awesome ability to get his shot off or to draw fouls. I see the analogy, as they're both wings with PG skills who don't thrive on athleticism, but PP is just SO much better that it's hard to compare them.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Evan Turner has helped us win a few games since the All Star break.
He's become a different player with his role on this team and his abilities are catered to very effectively. Much more of a playmaker and much more usage of his good passing over the last 25-30 games.

The problem with Evan 'Rollercoaster' Turner is that he's not a starter on a championship team.
At best he's perhaps a top 5 contender for 6th man of the year...and even then, he's got to play in a system that's Rollercoaster friendly.

I'm still not sure why he's still playing for us when we are rebuilding because his worth is never going to be more than (at the very, very best) a late first round pick. More likely two second rounders.

I guess he still has time to fix the hitch in his jumpshot and if he could do that and shoot 35% from 3 point land he'd be awesome.

Similarly to Bradley, he looks much better than he really is because our team is simply terrible.

In fact, it's probably an insult to mention Evan Turner in the same sentence as Paul Pierce.
Maybe if you said 'Evan Turner- Paul Pierce's ugly little one legged cousin' would be a better analogy  :P
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.
