LOL Lakers getting hammered right now.

Rajon Rondo is not stupid and will not sign with the Lakers. They need a LOT more help than Rondo and a 36-37 year-old Kobe.

And no - a healed Julius Randle will NOT help them.

Hahaha if he does, he's going for the paycheck (and all the more power to him, if that's what he wants). Lakers aren't winning anytime soon in the stacked West, with or without Rondo.

Yeah, you can't really blame guys for that. They're basically trying to retire after working for 10-15 years as a pro. You got to get what you can get while you still can.

But you can't pull a 'Melo and say all you want is to win, then subsequently turn around and take (nearly) the biggest paycheck you can get while spurning better offers to win. That's just lying and making yourself look stupid. lol

I know they've got Conley but I think he would be awesome on the Grizzlies with Gasol, Randolph and Green.

I'd feel bad for Bball Tim. Poor guy doesn't even post here anymore and would have to join yet another board to follow Rondo.

I'd feel fantastic. Please dear basketball gods, hear my prayer.

I'm not a cap expert, but I believe LA has like 14-17$ Mil in cap space. If they signed Rondo at say, 9$M per, they wouldn't have any room left for Love, they'd be tied into a long-term contract with a surly, over-the-hill, ball dominant PG to pair with their surly, over-the-hill, ball dominant SG who's hobbling on his last leg for $25M a year. They'd be too good to land in the high lottery, but they might not make the playoffs either. Stuck in purgatory. I hate LA more than even Miami.

It's one thing to be too good for the top 8 picks and too bad for anything but an 8th seed when all of your players but one are 30 or under and your core players are all 20-26 and you have assets upon assets at your disposal. It's another too be mediocre with a 38 year old Kobe, a 3 years removed from doing anything consequential, D-Will on the Nets version of Rondo, a rookie in Randle and a bunch of average role players with nearly no assets to speak of.

I wouldn't care. I've moved on. It isn't like I want Rondo here.

Rondo at this stage of his career is a mere role player. He stunk in Boston as the face of the franchise and will as well with the Lakers even if he's relegated as a 2nd option. If they sign him it would be to please Kobe (when don't they please the sidekick ball-hog?). It will create buzz around the media and half-hour sessions of ESPN blowing on the Lakers pegging them as a dark horse contender (when they won't be). If Love goes there too he's an idiot just like Rondo (if Rondo DOES decide to go there). Now I would be livid if any Celtic ever joined the LA clowns, however with Rondo I could care less because he was never a real Celtic like Pierce was. No Celtic should even consider ever joining a rival team (9-3 Vs those LA clowns in the NBA Finals is hardly a rivalry IMO anyway), even if the Lakers were contending. That's just slimy. I believe Clarkson can be a solid PG for them, defense non-existent and whatnot, so giving Rondo a roster spot would be to become relevant, something the Lakers love being seeing as they're Hollywood celebrities out there in cannabis Cali. I would love it actually, seeing Laker fans suffering through Rondo's pathetic shooting both from the stripe and the perimeter, inconsistent moody efforts because he didn't take his nap or whatever has Rondo the diva so moot. He'd make a great Laker really. A possible Big 3 of Kobe (old, washed up and unable to ride big men's backs for championship rings any longer), Rondo (non-max money player that thinks he's a top 5 PG in his own little fantasy world), and Love (One dimensional PF that couldn't even guard a wooden creaky chair) will be yet another disappointment. They can make the playoffs MAYBE as a low seed (7th-8th), but a championship? LOL! Yeah LA, get back in second place, Boston's got the throne!

There isn't a team out there lining up to give Rondo a max, not even deep pockets Cuban in Dallas. They probably will they probably won't, but other than them only NYK and the Lakers seem desperate to throw money at a star player. It's obvious really: If Rondo signs with LA or NY, he'll be going for the money ala Melo. If he stays in Dallas he'll remain in a playoff team (not a contender by any means but still decent to be a playoff team). Randle's ceiling is Zach Randolph and Zach Randolph isn't a top 5 superstar in this league. Plus his arms are Jurassic Park T-Rex-esque and lord knows if he's any good at the NBA level.

I wouldn't care a lot, but there's always this:

If I was Rondo, I'd try to go to another team who pays me absurd lots of money, not those guys.

I'm kind of irked by it
Cuz he's number is going to be retired by us and it kind of puts a ? mark on him as a true celtic
He said he would not join the heat but joining our mortal enemy
He went to 2 finals against the lakers so he should understand our rivalry
But then again I'm all for players making the most money they can make in their limited career span

I know him joining doesn't put lakers  in the playoffs
But he does fit them and they seem crazy enough to offer max dollars on him cuz Kobe likes his game and he can run their team offense

Another fit may be Houston with them getting josh smith they may try lure rondo there
Sacramento will be going for him but won't get him cuz he doesn't want yo play in sac town
New York has melo wanting him but phil won't get him cuz he doesn't fit the triangle

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
I've moved on with Rondo... I would still love for him to come here, and Love to sign with us in the off-season...  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Who cares? I mean Kobe hamstrung the Lakers with his contract. Like Melo "I only want to win but give me the max even though i'm clearly going to decline".

If Kobe's going to focus more on spot ups.?.?... But who knows what Rondo is capable of anymore.

Also, we traded Rondo. If he gets a good offer from the Lakers, there's no right to be angry.
