I'd be ecstatic. Rondo and Kobe on the same team? Recipe for disaster and to make the Lakers bad.

From a roster perspective, as in "afraid" he'd make the Lakers better, I find it irrelevant. As much as I liked Rondo here, even as I complained about many of his flaws throughout the years, he's no longer that much of a player... and if he gets PAID like he wants to get PAID, then even better.

From a Celtics fan perspective, I'd be incredibly angry at it. He would be the 2nd player of main contributors of our latest Championship run that I'd have to write-off completely... tarnishing my memories from a championship run. But not really at the level of Ray Allen who did a complete BS move towards us, but it would be a real shame to see a Celtic go voluntarily to play with the Lakers.

The only player I'd forgive if he wanted to play there would be Paul Pierce, he would've earned it, as much as it would hurt to see him in Lakers gold and purple.

If the Lakers offer him way more money than anybody else, then you have to accept it as a business decision; however, if he takes less money to sign with LA, then I will be pretty disappointed in him (but still hold him in higher regard than Allen, for sure).

I don't have to accept anything, from a Celtics fan perspective there's no reason good enough to go to the Lakers. That it can be rationalized, sure, but I don't have to accept it.

The league is moving in a direction with ball movement and three point shooting that doesn't fit rondos skill set. The Spurs, the Hawks, even our Celtics. It's becoming a trend and I think players like rondo might be phased out of the league.

Rondo has been abysmal in Dallas and it's obviously bc he can't fit in their motion offense. Doc Rivers helped rondo a great deal by crafting the offense around his strengths. Those days of coaches doing that for him are likely over.

In short I think rondo fails anywhere he goes in which the offense isn't built around him and I doubt most teams will do that for him as he goes into his 30s. So if the lakers want to give him big $ then all the power to them.

This. I love the Lakers potentially losing their lottery-bound pick by adding a past prime Rondo who only makes them marginally better in a western conference that is tough as nails to compete in. Not to mention Rondo bolting could potentially start a chain reaction of Monta Ellis and Tyson Chandler jumping ship from Dallas for greener pastures, which would then make that pick the Mavericks owe the Celtics next year all the more valuable.

I say go to LA LA land Rajon. You'd be inadvertently doing your former team a solid and making their enemy worse.

Still got love for Rondo, but I wouldn't really care at this point.  If the Lakers are going to attract big names, I'd have no problem with them using up their cap space on a trio of Rondo, Kobe, and Love.  That core wouldn't even come close to winning a championship, and in fact would likely be a first-round exit team in the West, even if Randle turns out to be a good player.  They'd be a horrid defensive team.  And, as mentioned by other posters, Rondo and Kobe aren't a good fit.

Fine as long as they overpay for him. I still can't see that team being that much better. Kobe's not helping that team, as he's on the decline. Even adding Love to that team won't put them over the top.

If he signs a big enough deal that they no longer have enough to max Kevin Love I would be ecstatic.

CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

http://www.lakersnation.com/lakers-rumors-rajon-rondo-mortal-lock-to-sign-with-los-angeles/2015/04/03/

Quote
According to ESPN?s Max Kellerman, Rondo will be signing with the Lakers this summer. Kellerman bases his information from a trusted source and broke the news on his radio show Max & Marcellus on 710 ESPN saying the following:

?As I heard from people who would know told me a couple months ago that [Rajon] Rondo is mortal, about a month ago, that Rondo is a mortal lock to sign with the Lakers.?

Kellerman went on to elaborate a bit on his comments and the source in which he heard it from, via 710 ESPN:

?Marcellus, when I first heard that Rondo was coming to L.A., which he is, it was about a month ago and a friend of mine who knows, who is in the business, said it is a mortal lock that the Lakers will sign Rajon Rondo. I?m not going to mention his name, but it is a very reliable source who has his ear to the ground.?

Would it bother you?  A back court of Rondo + Kobe... Julius Randle + whoever they take top 5... should still have enough cap space to sign Kevin Love as well.

I'll be a little annoyed by it.
why?  you were the most vocal person for getting rid of him.  you trashed him constantly

Personally, I'd be disappointed to see him on the Lakers but I'd understand if they offered him the best deal.

I'd find it absolutely hilarious to be honest with you. If Rondo doesn't work with a ball-dominant Ellis, how in the hell does he expect to work with an uber ball-dominant Kobe? In fact, Kobe has turned into a faux-point guard the last few years, and that was one of the few things keeping him relevant. Kobe and Rondo (more Rondo) both need the ball to be relevant, and if they also sign Love, who the hell plays defense for that team? lol Do they yank World-Peace from retirement so he can come in and play the defense for them? lol Man, I can't believe teams are willing to throw huge amounts of money towards him after this whole Mavs fiasco.

I pretty much agree with all of this.  Lakers and Mavs both seem like a bad fit.  I still like Rondo, but it is hard to believe that he doesn't know his own strengths and weaknesses by now.  Maybe the lakers offer will be enough money to convince him in spite of the logical basketball issues?  I dunno.  I haven't really heard much about Rondo coming to the Lakers, and I live in So Cal.
