Questions for the Sixers fans:
1. When do you think the Sixers will build the roster like they are trying to win games?
2. When will the Sixers attempt to sign free agents?
3. Are you worried about top assets not reaching their full potential because of the situation they are in?
4. At what point do you think the Sixers will be better than the C's?
1. The 2016 off season. Saric, 2015 1st(s), Embiid, Noel, Grant, Covington, 2016 1st(s). That's probably what the core looks like unless they go all in on a trade. But even then the roster needs too much work to really construct itself as a playoff contender until the 16-17 season.
2. Same answer. Although they may use their abundance of cap space this offeason for a guy like Middleton. Who knows, the guys that the FO tends to like are mostly RFAs this year instead of UFAs.
3. To be honest I think we're one of the top 5-10 player development teams/situations. For all the losing culture talk the team pays hard, has a defensive identity and has shown significant improvement this year. Much like Brad probably doesn't get his due because the C's are a fringe playoff team in the East Brown doesn't because the Sixers are a magnet for scorching hot takes from people who've watched them for 5 minutes all year.
4. They may never be better than the Celtics with this iteration of the team. Joel Embiid turning into Greg Oden 2.0, Nerlens stopping offensive development and some misses on draft picks makes for a team struggling to get the 8th seed. If Embiid turns into the next Hakeem, Nerlens Noel becomes a DPOY who is an average offensive player, Saric runs the offense like Brad Miller and the picks more or less pan out then we're a contender. Who knows?
