2011: JaJuan Johnson
2012: Sullinger and Fab Melo
2013: Olynyk
2014: Smart and Young

2011 to 2013 are all blown drafts. Smart at least plays good D but for a top 6 pick they should do better. Young looks like a less athletic Gerald Green.

In 2011 they looked long and hard at Chandler Parsons. In an interview he even said he was shocked they did not pick him.

2012, Sullinger will eat himself out of the league and in Jackie Mac's article today Danny admits they knew he had weight issues. Fab Melo. Need I say more?

2013, Draftexpress starts covering the Greek Freak after Ainge is seen scouting him personally. He reverts to his typical anti Euro bias and takes the safe choice in Olynyk who can not guard a locked door with a shotgun. Meanwhile Giannis Antetokounmpo is going to be well, we all know what he is going to be.

2014, the jury is still out. Hopefully after three drafts in a row the Boston "Brain Trust" will not blow it. Do not hold your breath.

Boston has not drafted a decent player since Bradley in 2010. That is just awful. Sullinger is injury prone and has not even tried to handle his weight. Instead he lies about it. Look up any of his interviews from last summer if you don't believe me. Olynyk plays terrified and is useless on D. Useless.

In the end all the people who are excited we have however many million draft picks should realize Boston has blown four drafts in a row and blown them bad. There is no way to debate it. Melo, Johnson and even Brooks who he was traded for are all out of the league, Sullinger has yet to play a full season and is about to be the next Oliver Miller. Olynyk will be playing in Greece in two years while the Greek we should have picked will be in the MVP race. Thanks "Brain Trust".

"Four years in a row if you count 2014, which I just said the jury's out on. Four years in a row!"

You are exaggerating on some of the picks.
I do agree that JaJuan and Fab Melo were horrible picks, but I disagree with the other ones.
We can't tell the future regarding Sullinger's weight, who knows he might show up on training camp slimmer than ever.
Olynyk has done OK, but then again we didn't expect him to come in and become the next Dirk Nowitzki now did we? It's easy to be wise after the event regarding Giannis. We weren't the only team that let go.

Smart and Young are both way too early to judge. They might both improve alot during the next season.

I think that you are being a little too harsh ::)

If you do the 2012 draft over it probably goes Davis, Lillard, Drummond, Draymond Green and then maybe MKG. Sullinger's in the next tier with the rotation/maybe starter level guys like Barnes and T. Jones. Green's the only one that went after that's regrettable. That's not really "blowing it" by my definition. Drafting Austin Rivers, Thomas Robinson and Royce White---now that's blowing it.

JJJ was a bust but I don't get too worked up when we blow a pick in the mid-twenties.

These threads always kill Ainge (or whoever the GM is, every team gets them) for the players taken after that ended up better, but never gives credit for the players that taken after the good players that busted.  They also don't mention that Smart for instance is better than the two guys drafted ahead of him and he was drafted 6th, but Ainge said he would have drafted him 4th.  He is potentially better than even Embiid if Embiid never gets over his injuries.

If there was a 2012 redraft, then Sullinger would've been taken in the top 10.

TP - picking marginal NBA players in the top 10 is blowing it. I agree that there are players throughout the years I wish we had picked, but there are a lot of teams that feel the same way. Danny has a pretty good track record with his drafting, but hasn't had a homerun since Rondo - let's hope Smart or a couple of these picks coming up can be solid stars (or at least be traded for stars).

You can insult me all you would like but you have no counter to my actual argument. I am correct. Regarding the "Hindsight" line of debate, I specifically point out there were players Boston scouted extensively that Boston passed on, Antetokounmpo and Parsons. Boston has drafted awfully in 2011, 2012, 2013. 2014 is still in the air but early results are mixed at best. If you want to attack me for "whining" or "complaining" I hope living as a mindless yes man is to your liking.

Picking up Sullinger and Smart is hardly blowing it. Could be worse, we could be the Nets who have nothing to show for the pick they gave away years ago that became Damian Lillard. Or we could be the Clippers who gave away the pick that became Kyrie for nothing.

I can't think of a team that has drafted better than OKC years ago. Maybe the Pacers for getting George? It took him four years to blossom though. Why are you judging our picks when most of them haven't played three years yet?
Long-form is far from dead, but please refrain from paragraph-laden posts! Who wants to read that?!
