Yes, let's bring Pierce on a low ball offer.

He's worth way more than the vet minimum.  Not going to happen.

Why would Pierce opt out for a lower deal?

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
I think if we can convince Love or some other good player to come to Boston and Pierce would come back to finish out his career here.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

It depends on who we get this summer...if we still going with youth movement, then no
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

if for vet minimum, absolutely. If the contract is reasonable, having a vet presence for the young kids will be absolutely amazing. And it will be great for PP to retire in green

I can't possibly imagine Pierce will be playing for a vet minimum contract next season, not even for Boston. He is worth way more than that, and is due way more than that if he doesn't opt out of his current contract.

It all depends of PP. If he thinks he can be competitive enough to make another title run with  Washington next year, then it might be for 2016-17 season.
But I hope he'll come for the next season, as I believe he can give a lot for the young player and be another 6th man. Can you imagine IT & PP coming out of the bench? pure pleasure.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
If we can sign a max player and use Wallace's contract, filler, and picks to trade for another one, I see no reason why Pierce wouldn't sign with this team. He would want to go where he can be competitive and our team with two additional stars would have to be interesting to him - especially since he spent so many years here.

But we have to get those stars first and that will prove difficult to do.

Just as long as he doesn't usurp the coach's authority. Stevens is still a young coach, his team is mostly young players. Now you bring in an aging Celtic legend, it could possibly backfire.

Just saying... on the other hand, it would be exciting seeing "the truth" coming into the game in a close one.

I think it could upset the chemistry. I like what's developing now. PP might not have the patience and selflessness that the team needs right now. Wouldn't totally rule it out but it strikes me as highly unlikely.

A one-day deal, maybe.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

People overestimate sentimentality as much as 'wanting a ring'.  It's all about the money given the limited time every player has to earn NBA money.  That said I think that Pierce ultimately returns here for one more season - in 16-17.
