Once I had the random opportunity to see Adam Morrison, Rudy Gay, Randy Foye, and Tyrus Thomas walk into the NBA store for a group predraft interview.

Morrison had one of the least athletic walks of all time. It was sorta side to side and he looked down at the ground like a combination of having social anxiety and watching where his feet were going so he didn't trip.

KO is sorta starting to enter that place. Not sure how he regressed, but for now he has.

If you think Olynyk is bad, you don't understand basketball and how the game is played on the offensive side of the ball. Plain and simple at this point. The Olynyk hate is getting ridiculous. You have people spouting misinformation about him now (expecting turnovers or bricked shots even though he is by far our most efficient big man). Just means some of you aren't paying any attention whatsoever.

I cringe at seeing Olynyk play period. His defense is nonexistent, and on offense I expect either a turnover or a bricked shot. I have been saying for a long time, and will continue doing so - discard sunk costs. For as long as there are naive idiots that believe in Olynyk's potential or see him as a net positive player - trade him, for anything. Preferably, package him on a draft day with our pick and Clippers' pick to move higher up.

You aren't paying attention to the game then, or you simply don't understand basketball. Who is really the naive idiot when you expect a person shooting ~49% to brick shots every time he shoots?

Please, don't take field goal percentage for granted. Not all field goals are created equal. Olynyk's relatively high (still lower than league average for bigs, btw) percentage is inflated due to inordinate amount of time he is playing against other team's third stringers when we are winning by a large margin.

For example, check this out:
http://stats.nba.com/player/#!/203482/stats/advanced/

Olynyk's Net Rating in Wins is 14.4 (he is playing against scrubs), while in Losses is -5.5. Also, in losses his defensive rating is horrendous 109.6 meaning that a good fraction of responsibility for team's loss can be attributed to him playing no defense.

Also, if you dig deeper into statistics, you will see that Olynyk's field goal percentage against other team's starters is around 34% - that is when he is NOT playing in a blown out game.

I think that pretty much answers your question on why I expect bricks from him.

Sorry, but I could just as easily use the same criticism and arguments toward you and the Olynyk supporters and could just as easily ask the question of, "What games are you guys watching?"

Because the Olynyk I see has NO feel for the game. Here are some observations

1.)His shooting is inconsistent

-I don't know what Olynyk's specialty is suppose to be (maybe someone can help me with that too or if he even has any certain thing he's good at) but his shooting is inconsistent at best including his free throws.

2.) He's slow. On defense, the guy he's covering beats him to the basket almost every time.

3.)His IQ. Last night, as he attacked the net, he put his hand up and tried to push his defender off as he was trying to lay the ball up. Also, a lot of times when he has the ball, he looks clueless like he has no idea what to do with it.

Now, I am noting he's averaging 10 and 5 this season which is pretty impressive, stat wise.

But from what I see as a player, I just don't think he has a good feel for the game.

I don't know, maybe it's a matter of interpretation or perception.

I do get the feeling if Olynyk wasn't a Celtic, people wouldn't be anywhere nearly as adamant in defending him and labeling him as a "very good player with great upside."

PS...why does Olynyk always look like he's falling from the 2nd row of the balcony whenever he falls down?

Was at the celtics Magic game and Kelly was beyond Clumsy, looked slow, looked unathletic and was getting tossed around by opposing Offensive big men and they weren't offensive fouls they were just Kelly being so soft. He did hit a couple big threes and spread the court out, but even my girl who knows nothing about basketball was saying how clumsy and uncordinated Kelly Looked and that's actually something we raved about Kelly was that he a 7 footer with guard skills... If he loses those guard skills and just becomes an unathletic no defense 3 point shooting big::; we don't need him.

It’s been said here many times, “He’s a good high energy/ great attitude 4-5 off the bench”.  You can give out all the TP’s you want for defending his play or “upside”.  If you’re expecting anything more than that, you’re just kiddin yourself.

Is a stretch 4 sometimes 5 off the bench worthy of a #13 pick?  He might be?  But I’d expect to see an upgrade there at some point, before they really start competing.

I've said it multiple times, we have the best bench in the NBA

ISIAH
Avery
Crowder
Sully
olynyk

Three of those guys start for us now, but to become a championship contender those guys need to move to our bench and we need to get a great starting 5. Sully is the only exception and could be a starter and you put Zeller to replace em on that "all bench" team.

Smart/ Isiah
---/ Avery
---/Crowder
Sully/ Kelly
---/ Zeller

He is not consistent nearly ,as  fat old Sully to me .  Sully being allowed to shot threes has ruined him with a lot of fans.

Sully is beast around the bucket .  He needs to stay there or shoot the 17 ft and in jumper .

If Sully could get in true athletic shape like Aldridge did .  He play circles around Kelly.

Kelly is not tuff , and he too timid about both major parts of the game .

Besides knocking down a few threes and decent hustle . .......I don't have much use for him right now .  He is so poor at being 7 ft tall.    His gift , and   Doesn 't have a clue how to use his height.

Yeah, that's highly overstated.

Why has Olynyk become the designated whipping boy of this team?

Mike

Because Rondo got traded and Sullinger got injured.
TP -  beat me to it.

Because he's the weakest link now. Also he falls a lot.

Yeah I went to make a thread about this the other day and then got sidetracked...
He is the clumsiest player out there and has legs of straw- always finds a way to find the floor.
I think he's just a bit soft and you can't do much to change that...
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

You mean the same Rondo who got into a fight with his own coach and the same Sully who got injured because of conditioning issues?

That Rondo and Sullinger?

neither Kelly or Sully can play much defense anyways. I am fine with that as long as we can find a reliable defensive center (if that person is not Zeller).

You know I hate relying on stats but I'm curious what the numbers show since Sullinger went down. Are we better on D without him?

Also, you know by my screen name that I'm a huge Rondo fan but I can still say his game has fallen apart this year. Reason I'm saying this is you have to be the biggest Sullinger fan on here and you throughout the season tried to convince people that he played good defense. With Sully now admitting he was out of shape and coasting at times, can you at least admit that you might had been wrong? Forget whatever stats you were using before but the eye test showed a guy who was slow when rotating and slow when cutting off the lane. He also seemed out of position a number of times or lacked the effort to slide over when he should have.

I don't think I ever defended Sullinger's weight. I've always been supportive of the idea that a lighter Sully is a better one. My quip was consistently that Sullinger's weight has not prevented him from becoming a legitimate NBA player. His room for improvement is not reason enough to call him a bad player. By that logic (extreme example), Andrew Wiggins is bad because he can be so much better.

I certainly think Sullinger was lazy at times on both ends of the floor, probably more than I would've thought about a month back. I think he got fed up with the losing and quit quicker than he should have. Losing leads to lackadaisical play and bad habits. Sullinger gave into this so quickly that it's probably a cause for concern. However, I think people purposely confuse off-season/off-court laziness (coming into camp out of shape) with in-season/on-court laziness to further their agenda. I don't think Sullinger is the type to never give his all on the floor. When the team started to turn around following the departures of Green and Rondo, I noticed Sullinger playing a lot harder on both ends. People who dislike Sullinger like to forget that he was a part of the turnaround in the beginning, but he certainly was contributing in a lot of those wins before his injury. That is the good news, that he responds to a winning culture.

Ultimately I'll concede that I was wrong about Sullinger's maturity, but I still don't think I'm wrong about his game. And I definitely don't remember ever saying something as ridiculous as suggesting he didn't need to lose weight.
