I like this guy much better than McGee.  Seems like he has much more upstairs going on than Javale.  After reading this piece on ESPN,  I really think he would do well in the Celtic's system nest season. Would be a great rim protector and I bet Danny could get him at a decent discount.  Sanders is obviously a very intelligent dude and his main issue is smoking the gange which is legal now in four states and Washington DC.  It can be prescribed legally in over half the states for his diagnosis.  Cannot see any other center available in free agency that Danny could get and all the good ones will be gone when we draft.  I know his name has been mentioned here but thought this article was a interesting read.

It would have to be a really cheap contract or have a team option. We don't need another Vin Baker situation.

Haven't heard of any indication that he's interested in coming back. Would not mind having him or Vin Baker (current), though. Talent with some emotional instability and/or a legend. Win-win.

If you haven't watched this - it is well worth your time

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhnCna8DtEg

The guy suffers from mild mental ilness and has the balls to talk about it. He smokes pot which many NBA players do, and should be legal anyways, to regulate his depression.

He comes across as intelligent and a person I would have no problem with on my team - if he chooses to play basketball again.

You can't plan a team around Sanders.  He has been totally unreliable.  Wanna give him the minimum and have no expectations, then fine.  But when he earns his way into the starting lineup he is going to change the teams identity and eventually he will let you down.

If we could get Larry Sanders, with his head on straight, on a reasonable contract, it would be great. He's a real good defender in the middle, he defends the rim, he's not an Aircraft Carrier type of center that can't run the floor, or move. Rather than spend major dollars on a free agent center with a similar game.

Most of all, the C's could concentrate on other areas, maybe get another wing that can score and defend. Maybe get a power forward that can compliment the group we already have.

Just the rim protector we need to implement the defensive system Stevens is going for.  Do not see anyone else out there that will be available this summer.  He is only 26 and just needs the right organization to play for.

ROFL another Larry Sanders thread, really?

He can go play in China, only people that are a complete mess take a buy out for pennies on the dollar of a guaranteed contract. Anyone that thinks he is a competent player/person needs to be questioned.

Come on guys enough already with this f&%$tard.

Your empathy and valuing of the dollar over attempting to find mental comfort are admirable.

You have any better solutions?  Gasol and Cousins are not walking thru that door and there will not be any rim protectors available when we draft.

Even if he has a prescription, I'm pretty sure it is still not allowed in the NBA. The NBA and NFL have bans on other drugs that are legal. I'm sure the argument is that there are other drugs that are allowed that treat his issues. For example (correct me if I'm wrong) adderol is a banned substance in the NBA/NFL that is prescribed for ADD/ADHD.

I would love to bring him in next year if he says he has his head straight. No reason to discuss him until he says he is ready to come back.
