Don´t think we make the Playoffs but I like the fact, we are battling for a Playoff spot. C´s are playing hard every game, thats how you develop :)

I agree, I think the C's just miss the playoffs this year.  Probably end up with the 10th pick or so and  they will definitely make it next year...

Yep...progress is progress.  This team was never a bottom five team, either back when the season started and we had Rondo and Green, or now with all the trades that have been made since the beginning.

You're starting to see optimism and true team work, foundational pieces to building a contending team.  Did you notice last night when Whiteside barreled over KO how quickly the other Celtics arrived?  They didn't get into Whiteside's face, they went to lift up a fallen teammate...

...same thing when IT went down...they quickly were there to lift him up.

That's team ball.  Combine that with Coach getting another year of NBA under his belt, and we have great potential, whether we make the playoffs this year or not.

It's been a fun ride this year! :D

No I don't think we will. With four teams competing with us for two spots I don't think the C's are going to be able to do it. I believe we also have one of the tougher schedules down the stretch, but that might not be true as the SoS charts were for the post all-star break not going forward from now.

Memphis, 2 x Indiana, OKC, SAS, LAC, 2 x Cleveland, 1 x Milwaukee, 2 x Toronto

Those are the games where we play clearly better teams in my mind. Too many to overcome unless we steal more than I expect and also win a pretty high clip of the remaining toss up games.

Those toss up games include several versus our direct playoff competitors, so they're doubly important.

i dont think we make it
heres how i see it

cleveland = lose twice
Indy = split games
Toronto = lose twice
LAC = 50-50 (Doc may rest paul and jordan before playoffs)
Memphis = lose
OKC = lose

Toronto = lose twice? Have you seen their games? Call me drunk on the Kool Aid but I think the C's are as good as they are, now. They can't finish games. Analytics don't come out in player vs. player on paper, but I'm a Bradliever.
Indiana has been playing better than Toronto lately, which is nuts.

I also don't think Doc will be resting any players at that point, too much at stake in the western conference standings right now. They're just 3 games back in the loss column from homecourt in the first round and could easily fall all the way to 7th.

The last 10 games of the year, the C's play 9 playoff teams.  Going to be tough, the only team they don't play that isn't in the hunt is the Pistons and that game is in Detroit.  Clippers, Toronto 2 and Cleveland 2.  Brutal stretch to end the year.  This year has been a lot of fun, I hope they get in but I think it's a long shot!  However, I think they are a playoff team next season and for the foreseeable future...

I forgot what site it was, but I checked a couple of days ago and it said we had the easiest remaining schedule of the East with Indiana right behind us. Looking at that schedule, though, that's hard to see unless the crappy teams we play are just so bad that they offset the good teams. Perhaps they were accounting for teams resting for the playoffs, too, though I don't know how you actually figure that one out.

I think Indiana will be in for sure, they're coming on very strong and may get George back soon.

That leaves one spot and while I wouldn't rule us out, I just don't think we can string enough wins together to get there.  It'll probably take ~36 wins this year to grab #8, which isn't much, but we aren't consistent enough at this point.

I hope not. The fact that we have a chance shows just how bad the EC is. Ten games under .500? Come on..

If we lose Thomas, there is no chance.  I think our chances are slim with him.

You guys realize there is an active thread that looks at the results of all teams competing for the playoffs on a daily basis with discussion of their upcoming schedule, injuries etc... :-\

Sorry :/  Hadn't come across it, didn't mean to double-post. Was a question that has been lingering on my mind. Trying to dissociate from the potential losses of Wilfork, Revis, and Browner, maybe?

We just beat Miami, Charlotte, and Memphis. Our schedule is nasty, as posted earlier, but Miami's looks nasty as well, and Charlotte is reeling. Still think we got a puncher's chance.

Conversation just got a little more interesting. Hollinger has some re-crunching of numbers to do.
