If I'm the Pats I'm considering really trying hard to run the ball this year. Save Brady and the receivers. Keep the other teams off the field and control the clock. Save the Dbs from having to run all day. Keep the defense less banged up

.Pats are heading back to the days of 08-13, great offense and the defense that can't stop anyone when it matters..

The years of mediocrity, right?

No, the years of not having a championship caliber defense.  You know, the years when the hall of fame QB gives them leads late in Super Bowl and the defense can't hold on...
Ironically, the defense held on the final drive because of Malcolm Butler, not Darelle Revis. Who knew.

Please stop with Jerod Mayo, he is as overrated as Rondo is.  Hightower and Collins are both much better players than he ever was.  Stopping the run is not that big of a deal anymore, the NFL game has changed.  The Pats had a great secondary with Revis and Browner and let them both walk?  I just don't get it, the CB free agent class has basically dried up too....

Wait and see next year how many holes Revis covered up.  He made McCourty and Chung look real good last year...

Yeah. its deja vu a few times over. Pats are two spectacular plays from have two SB wins '08-'13, and are one spectacular play from not having a SB win in '14.

Losing Revis is a set-back, there's no question. But, he was simply too expensive, given the state of the Pats cap. And,  there's a long way to go in the offseason, let alone the regular season.  I'm curious to see who else the Pats sign.

that's true but let's look at the bigger picture for a minute, if the Pats didn't have Revis last year do you think they get home field in the playoffs??  Do you think they go 5-1 against Rodgers, Manning, Rivers, Cutler, Strafford and Luck??  I don't....

Well they threw on what they thought was the best matchup. If Revis is out and Dennard or someone is in, maybe they complete a pass on Dennard.

One word: money.

As a side note, this should highlight why it is so hard to build a dynasty in the salary cap era, which is why the comparisons between Brady and Montana (for example) need a whole lot of context.

If you want to go down that route, then clearly Browner is the player the Pats will miss the most.  When did the Pats turn it around this season? Sort of around the time that the Browner came back.

Plus Rondo wasn't playing. That overrated hack.

The season turned around the night they played the Bengals and they unleashed Revis in man to man coverage.....Oh and Brady go hot...haha...that matters.

Actually when the OL was finally able to keep Brady upright (so when Stork was finally available). Which reminds me I've still seen no plans to replace Connolly. Trying to use Cannon/Devey/Kline in his spot was an unmitigated disaster last season.

Also, it seems that the Jets will acquire FitzPatrick when Houston signs Hoyer. Not much to write home about, but still a massive upgrade over Geno Smith. Wonder what this means about drafting Mariotta.
