Do you know the secret to improving the fan experience? It's having a team that could contend for a title, not better WiFi.

Hahaha we won't have a title contending team for a while
We aren't getting a title contending team

Sure. So to distract our beloved season ticket holders from the garbage product on the court we should offer them amenities instead. The jacksonville jaguars put a pool in their stadium for the same reason.

Consumerist garbage. And yes, there are definitely shades of grey here, since you could definite all sports as consumerist garbage, but I prefer to think that there's a difference between buying an overpriced Celtics shirt or some decent seats and pining for "luxury" at the Garden.

This whole premise is based on the fact the OP feels the. Celtics would actually want to pony up the $500-$750 million it would take to build an arena in a market that would have extreme competition for booking all the other year round events that are necessary to afford building such an arena.

My guess is if the C's could just get a better deal on the peripherals associated with the arena on nights they are playing they would be 100% ecstatic with that and never want to get their own building.

The addition of the Barclays Center has been a boon to Brooklyn's Economy http://m.nydailynews.com/new-york/brooklyn/barclays-1-year-article-1.1460150#bmb=1 . The Warriors are making a multi purpose arena that will also be a major commerce center in San Fransico. http://www.nba.com/warriors/news/updated-design-mission-bay-sports-entertainment-center-20141210

So, is the argument that the Celtics should open a new arena in Brockton, Lynn or Lowell to help boost the economy there?

The argument is whether the most loyal fanbase in the NBA should have high class/high tech amenities that less loyal fan bases currently receive. I was weighing in some economic benefits for the city.

...Without recognizing any of the economic realities involved.

I bet you think the Boston Olympics are going to be swell, too.

I would like to know how you measure/quantify "loyalty" too.

Ughhhh. God no. Who wants to go to Brockton for any reason at all? Lowell maybe, but that's pretty far from downtown Boston.

Arenas and baseball stadiums need to be built inside cities, close to public transportation and nightlife. Football stadiums can get away with being in the suburbs because football games are all about tailgating. But even more so in a very congested city like Boston, basketball teams need to both in a city neighborhood with surrounding entertainment and easily accessible to the people going to the game. Boston has the advantage of an extensive subway system. And the Garden takes absolutely full advantage. Even if they built a new arena, they need to stay in that spot.

This is really ridiculous that people are suggesting that we should build a stadium in Lowell or Brockton. I mentioned the Barclays Center to show the potential  Economic Benefit of building a new stadium in Boston.

I agree that a new celtics arena should be privately funded. I think the Boston Olympics is a separate debate to have.

As  a season ticket holder I feel the amenities offered at TD Garden to The most loyal fanbase in basketball are poor in comparison to what's offered at MSG, Barclays Center, Staples Center, American Airlines arena, and ect. I've been to MSG, Barclays Center, Staple Center and other arenas and feel that Celtics management should strive to make the fan experience as good as possible. You do this by utilizing the most high tech technology. If a stadium is not high tech compatible because it was built before the tech boom than fans should voice their desire for a new arena.

Celtics fans are so loyal they went to games in an unairconditioned  Boston Gardens. I'm not questioning the loyalty of Boston fans.
But it would be nice to see the fan experience as good as it can be for the most loyal fanbase in the NBA.

I called into 1510 The Zone many years ago and was able to ask Wyc this question.  His response was that he couldn't talk about it at this time due to the lease.  I suspect, it's something he wouldn't mind in the future.

I am totally for them staying on Causeway St. Near North Station. Or the New Stadium can be incorporated into the new TD Garden project. Look at the original plans for the Barclay Center. http://m.ny.curbed.com/tags/miss-brooklyn
I as for upgrades but major upgrade.

I think fans(more specifically people that pay to go too games regularly) should start discussing this. If fans desire change then the management will try their best to facilitate it.

I think the people who pay for games want the best experience they can get for their money

And I'm guessing for 99% of them, a "good to great" basketball team will suffice.

Dude the Bruins own that property. If you are a season ticket holder then obviously you are around Boston a lot. There's no place downtown for another arena when one already exists. If you're a season ticket holder and around Boston a lot then you know the Red Sox have been searching for 25 years for a place to build a new stadium downtown. There just isn't anywhere to put it and I doubt the ownership group is going to try to go into the arena business without a place to build an arena and with direct competition with the Bruins.

Think like a businessman. It makes no sense. All us loyal fans are just going to have to be happy with the Garden as it is with constant yearly updates until the building becomes obsolete and they have to build another over the parking lot they have now.

Your right they are in the most prime real estate right now. The innovation district is still a possibility. It's the fastest growing area in Boston. Including a new area in the TD garden expansion could be a possibility. But let's not overlook the potential of the innovation district. It definitely has space available. It will be a future business, residential, and commerce hub of Boston.

I know for a fact that Red Sox management hasn't been occupied with trying to find a location for a new stadium.  John Henry has said many times that a new stadium is a concern for future management. Let's not bring Fenway into this debate, it is a beautiful historic icon.
