I called KO a bust pick when it happened. I was wrong. But neither is he goin to be much more than what he already is which is a decent 3rd or 4th big on your team that will play much better offensively than he will defensively. He will never be a superstar, but unless injuries shorten his career real soon, neither is he a bust.

give ko a summer of lifting ,agility and lateral drills and shooting reps-i venture to say at gonzaga his focus was not nba threes, isiah will take so much attention, kelly may wind up with more time, easier access to hoop and jerbko and zeller will keep running the bigs.locker room has got to help-crowder,marcus and avery defence will up everbodies game and isiah is a pest-

If it was that easy to increase speed everyone would be fast.  Don't you think the Zags would have done it?

Does tonight's awful performance by Olynyk constitute as rust as well?

Feels like a bust right now bc he lost so much time this year and isn't on his game at the moment. His averages are right where I thought they'd be for year two though. Not bad numbers really.

I am bummed he missed so much time. But I don't think his ankle thing is chronic. Remember all the time we had to wait to get Avery through his injuries? (Double ankle and shoulder surgeries)

It happens.

Rust . . . slump . . . lack of confidence . . . call it what you will, but three bad games in a row for a young player returning from injury doesn't necessarily constitute bust.

It's just silly.

Come on, now. What this ever in question?  A guy like Wiltjer probably has a better chance of creating  a niche for himself in NBA.

I kind of wish people were this hard on Giannis if he has a bad game.

Ugh I need to stop mentioning him. But since people are still lamenting over Olynyk getting chosen over him.....

I am going on record here to say KO will be a VERY good player. The guy is coming off an injury and we cannot evaluate his production for at least 5-10 more games. His record with the C's in his first year and a half though is much better than most players drafted before him.

People are down on him for his shooting percentage, but that is the least of my worries. He has shown he can be an Elite shooter and that doesn't disappear overnight. He is also a surprisingly good rebounder and a very good passer.

His one week point is Defense, but given that he was a late lottery pick on a weak draft, I am not expecting him to be an allstar.

I haven't been able to watch the last three games.

Has KO made a difference or has the team looked worse with him on the floor?

From a few highlights it looks like he is meshing well with IT.

Funny thing is at times he looks like the pg and IT as the scorer/finisher.

If you can get D Jordan as your center, and you sign him to a max deal, then you also sign a talented power forward to a big bucks deal, to lead the team to the promised land, all of a sudden Kelly O looks just fine as a cheap backup forward/center coming off the bench to contribute/eat 12-14 minutes a game. Then you call him suitable.

If you're banking on Kelly Olynyk to pair with a moderately talented front court than the story suddenly changes. Bust.

He's looked terribly tentative and it still appears he has very little confidence to take an open shot, hesitating and eventually passing up the shot a lot. His rebounding hasn't been good as he has been moved by people around pretty good kn the post or is often away from the post on offense.

His defense is the same its always been, not good in the least bit.

But the ball does seem to move better when he is in the game. Perhaps its because he is one of the few people that's been here all year and knows all the plays better most. Perhaps its because he is such a willing passer and reluctant shooter. I can't tell, but its probably a bit of both.

Oh and he's had a couple of bad shooting nights when he has shot, though I think thats rust because he is usually a very good shooter.

This is a different team from the team before his last injury.

good points.

KO is never going to be "that" guy people here want him to be.   Ainge and CBS seem to understand and appreciate his "worth" more than anyone

KO is that key "supplementary" player many teams could use.  The unique thing is that he is 7 feet tall and can confuse opponents/coaches , mess up game plans
