...he is no longer athletic enough to drive...
.

i don't believe Rondo is no longer athletic enough to drive.  Plenty of relatively unathletic guards still manage to get to the rim, and Rondo's still got great handles.

Rondo doesn't drive to the rim because he's scared to Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. he's going to end up on the foul line.

Good for the Mavs to back up Carlisle. Rondo's baggage doesn't match his game anymore.

He's had issues with everyone. From his HS coach who suspended him for 12 games, with Tubby Smith at Kentucky, with Doc, with Stevens (birthday party incident), with refs, with a cameraman, with Heat sideline reporter Jason Jackson, and now with Carlisle.

Glad you've been keeping score.

You've got more dirt on Rondo than the FBI......

It's no secret, his apologists just like to keep their eyes tightly closed and pretend he's a boy scout.

Or, perhaps his apologists just tend to remember the Good Times he had in BOS, along with Ray, Perk, KG and PP.....you know, "The Starting Five that never lost a Series".

Boy those were good times.........right?

So he gets carte blanche? Awesome stuff.

Well, as a fan that's what I do.

I'm certainly not going to share with my sons or my friends or co-workers the "bad" times, lol.....I don't think many fans do.

Only the ones with a personal agenda or bent towards a player or players will remember the miniscule dirt on the players they watch.

So you turn a blind eye to all his incidents? When do the free passes stop?

As a fan, I don't track the bad stuff, eddie20...I personally think it's creepy to do so - especially when that is all that some fans tend to do.

Of course I keep it all in mind, but oftentimes where you focus on is where your mind remains.

For me, there are just too many good times that Rajon Rondo had here in BOS for me to focus on the negative stuff...way too many.

Our 17th Banner came at the expense of the Los Angeles Lakers - our bitter rivals - and Rajon Rondo was indeed a part of it - remember?

Our team - with Rajon Rondo in tow - was the one that upset CLE and send LeBron James packing to MIA - with Rajon Rondo having a HUGE series.

For me, I don't summarily dismiss the good times because of Rajon's bouts with his coaches. He is a load to manage and perhaps could handle things better.

But I sympathize with him and won't ever throw him under the bus.

Oftentimes, there are things we don't see that are the root cause for things happening. With Rajon Rondo, unfortunately - all some see is the bad.

You can say what you want about Rondo, but personally I'm not very impressed with Carlisle.

For all of Doc's "coaching" he was able to keep Rondo very productive and Stevens had Rondo just a couple months ago playing completely differently than this.

And Rondo isn't the only player in Dallas having a noticably down year. Anyone following Parsons? He isn't playing at last year's level either. What's the excuse there?

The Mavs are a stacked team and they aren't playing like one. I put that at Carlisle's feet. Now he's got Amare to help. Let's see how that goes.

You do remember that Carlisle won a title in 2011, right?
God I had practically forgotten. You know it's not 2011, right?

You know the last time Rondo was any good was 2012, right?
Oh 2012. So thaaaatt's when he led the league in assists and his position at rebs.

Not sure. Maybe. However, the leading rebounds for a PG is such an empty stat. It's like being the best shotblocking PG, it doesn't make much of a difference in wins and losses.

What is your stance, though? Are you saying that Rondo is still a good player or was a good player?

RT @espn_macmahon: Per sources, Rajon Rondo and Rick Carlisle had another heated exchange in the Mavs' locker room after last night's win.

See, the problem is that the incidents are reoccurring. It's always one thing or another with this guy. He's always the common denominator. I would be more sympathetic if his issues were with one individual or spread out at length between incidents. Fact is, Rondo is a jerk. A jerk that helped us win games, but a jerk nonetheless.

The NBA is a Business - is the recurring theme I see nowadays.

I'm glad that Rajon Rondo could spend his "lazy" evening with some fans at the Children's Hospital in BOS - right before he was traded.

Or perhaps he should've been practicing his free throws or 3 pointers?

Yes, and Kobe's been called a jerk, too....as well as Michael Jordan.

Gotta love those jerks.

Wow..so was the locker room altercation really what contributed to his benching tonight?

A number of people I know who met him in person at various places say the same thing, he is a jerk on and off the court. If he could control it on the court it would be ok, but he can't. Ainge and Doc managed to cover it up enough to get something for him, but he's an unlikeable and argumentative guy.

wow. even by the pathetically low standards held by most rondo threads, this one has really degenerated.

so, after repeating all your points for the umpteeth time, who convinced whom of what and changed some one else's mind?

or did we just waltz down groundhog-day lane once more?

mods. maybe its time to lock this puppy up since it seems to be going now where but down.

I did .....until now ......I think he is good as a Knick next year .   I believe LA has what they want .

Really Knicks are about the only team that could use his style of ball and have Jackson to appease and cater to him ....and put the Zin spell on him ..LOL :D

The difference is, those guys can actually consistently make a jump shot, and they didn't shoot under 40% from the free throw line.  Maybe things will magically turn around once the playoffs start, but there's no denying the fact that as of right now, Rondo doesn't look like he fits in the Dallas system.  The too ball-dominant problem is an issue, but Chris Paul is very ball-dominant as well, the difference is, the defense still has to be prepared for his offensive game.  Not only has Rondo never been that good of an offensive player, but he's gotten worse.  A lot worse.  The only "out" he had so to speak was to drive to the hoop and he barely even does that anymore since he knows how horrific he is at the free throw line.

And all of that is effort outside of the 48 minutes of game time.  The fact that he never put in the real work to improve his jump shot or free throws early on in his career is REALLY gonna come back to bite him in his veteran years.
