What do you guys think would be a good plan of action for rebuilding in 2015? My best case scenario would be to.......
For starters I would include marcus smart, avery bradley, james young, isaiah thomas, jae crowder, tyler zeller, jared sullinger, kelly olynyk as part of the core for our rebuild.
Next (in an ideal world) we finish with a pick anywhere in between 7-10, and phili uses one of their high draft picks to draft a big man, so we trade our pick for nerlens noel. But far more realistic we use our pick on willie cauley stein. Boston needs an rim protector, and ideally an above the rim (very athletic) center to pair with sully and ko.
Last, I think we need to get a small forward and I think danny ainge is going in a defensive minded direction, so he needs to be able to play defense at a high level. Ideally, we can go after Harrison Barnes. Golden State has Draymond Green (up for a pay day) and Andre Iguodola manning the SF so I think this is realistic. I like Barnes because he can do everything. He (plays defense like I just mentioned) rebounds, can shoot, is an above average passer. Just as important hes got good size for a SF ( 6'8 ) and is very athletic (as shallow as that sounds, with as many franchise and freak athelete SF's are playing the game right now, SF is the most important position to have an athelete).
Lineup:
Marcus Smart, Avery Bradley, Harrison Barnes, Jared Sullinger, Nerlens Noel/Willie Cauley Stein
Bench:
Isaiah Thomas, James Young, Jae Crowder, Kelly Olynyk, Tyler Zeller
ps - thomas and zeller running the pick and roll is gonna be poetry
pps - Even if golden state isn't interested in trading Barnes, Draymond Green is soon up for a pay day & Barnes will be a free agent in 2016. So maybe we can outbid for him in free agency (I doubt the price tag would be high).
