The Celtics say forward Jared Sullinger has sustained a left metatarsal stress fracture and will be out for the remainder of this season.

Pretty disappointing.

Not a good injury for a man with his weight issues. Danny has to be real careful about how much he commits to him in the future.

That's a shame, but not surprising, we don't want to mess with a stress fracture.

...hope Olynyk gets back soon, we're getting awfully thin up front.

This is why I prefer Olynyk to Sully long-term (if we keep one).  Olynyk's not particularly durable but Sully's always going to be at risk for this kind of thing if he doesn't transform his body.

Completely disagree with the tank. A losing culture in the locker room can be hard to overcome if you allow it to continue.

Thomas will replace Sullinger's scoring.

I don't like this scouting report because thy're trying to say that Stanley Johnson is not a good defender which it's something he's known for.

true, we will see a lot of Thomas and Zellar on pick and roles.

still , we are going to miss Sullys rebounding and passing

KO has to really come back strong to have any shot at the playoffs

Tough break. Hopefully he can believe weight is hindering his long term career. That way he can dedicate himself to being a lighter strictly pf player. I believe a 235lb Sully could be a elite player giving he can score from every where. Light weight means getting faster and open. Another positive is KO can get some big PT to develop.

it's shocking that a tall, overweight man who runs and jumps for living would have lower body problems.

perhaps, but unless thomas also grows 12 or more inches and can play pf and center, a few other items might be a challenge for him to replace.

Don't like seeing stress fractures in basketball players.

Co-sign on this being a reality check for Sully and his weight issues.

Unfortunately this injury comes at a horrible time if they plan to use Sully as a trade 'asset'. It appears now that KO will be the one being showcased for potential upgrades as Sully's value just went in the toilet Rondo-style (when he tore his ACL).

Is this the same injury that ended Yaos career and has hampered Brooke Lopez?

On a related note, this could be a total disaster for Sully and the Cs. An overweight player sustains an injury where he can no longer move around freely and exercise. Like, seriously, the guy plays professional NBA basketball for a living and he is still totally out of shape. This could either turn out really well (hires dietitian, becomes disciplined in whatever exercise routines he can participate in, etc) or just horribly (see Oliver Miller and Tractor Traylor).
