If I can have Turner, WCS, Mario or Porzingis I'd probably pass.

As much as this rookie class was hype... Nerlens Noel currently has the highest EFF rating of any rookie in the league.  Statistically, he's been rather good.   Considering he's coming off a major injury and he's just a baby, he's someone who I can't imagine Philly will trade anytime soon.

In the last month he's averaging 9 points, 7 rebounds, 3 blocks and 2 steals.   He's projecting to be a DPOY candidate long-term.  I don't care about his offense, he looks like he'll be a game-changer.  He deserves more ROY buzz than he's getting.

Oh the irony that Celtic fans will scoff at Nerlens' meager stats while claiming Marcus Smart (7 points, 3.5 assists, 36% shooting) is a "Future Stah, baby!"

I said earlier that Sully + our 2015 1st might not be enough.

With the way point guards grow on trees and our recent signing of Isaiah Thomas, you'd almost need to consider it if Philly made Nerlens available for Smart + our pick.  Elite defensive franchise centers aren't easy to come by.

That is too lateral to give up Smart. If you have Noel and Smart they are your defense. All you have to do is play IT, Smart, Young, Noel and Zeller for balance of offense and defense.

I think that Noel will be an elite rim protecter, considering that this is his first year actually playing in the league. Active, athletic, and long is what we need.
However I don't think he will be traded until they find out how healthy Embid is. And even then, they may want to see if the two can play together.

If we could get him for Sully or KO and a first, I'm on board.

I would rather have our pick this year. Noel hasn't shown me anything in the times I have watched him play.

Nerlens is ok, but I don't think he will ever be big enough to play full time center or will ever be much on offense.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Some of you guys are tripping. Noel is legit.  Getting potentially dominant defensive centers isn't easy.  Noel is going to finish this season averaging something like 10 points 8 rebounds 2 blocks and 2 steals ... Considering he's coming off a major injury and 20 years old, it will take a lot.

If we end up with a top 5 pick and they land Okafor, they might consider it.

If we are picking 7-12, I think you will need to include sully or oly.

In the two games I've seen the Celts play Philly, I haven't seen anything to suggest Noel is legit.

Again, I would trade Olynyk for him, but that's it.

Yes, a 2 game sample size is clearly enough to judge a 20 year old rookie who's already one of the better rim protectors in the NBA.
Yes, I found that funny as well. Watched two games on TV and we are suddenly Marty Blake.  Ha,ha,Ha.

Especially funny when you consider Noel has played at least 75 games in the greater Boston area with BABC and on one of the greatest HS teams of all time at The Tilton School in NH.

All you needed was a car and you could easily check him out all over New England in person for free against some of the greatest young players in the world.

Pre injury he was number one player in country in his class and off the charts athletically. Also way bigger than everyone here and the lame draft boards make him out to be. Yes, he is of thin build, but he is totally ripped and I saw him dominate some pretty physical players now in the NBA. Just needs time to get over the surgery and he of course missed a lot of basketball.

Bottomline.......Celtics are not getting Noel unless they give up multiple firsts and probably more.

Noel went 6 overall in the worst draft in recent memory two years ago smart went 6 overall in what is perceived to be one of the best. Since then neither have done anything shocking. Smart and our first is ridiculous IMO. Robert Covington has been 17 pts 6 boards and 2 steals this month. On a team like Philly where opponents see them as a bye week you can't read into stats. I value him same as I did two years ago. Worthy of a 4-8 pick in a bad draft which I believe translates to 7-12 in an avg draft. Maybe I pd throw in some filler because he's proven he won't be thabeet pt 2 but smart and a top 10 pick? Please

To answer the OP's question - a resounding YES!

But the main reason I clicked on the thread was to see LarBrd33's responses...seriously  ;)

Sorry, I don't watch many games of the 12-43 Sixers to know that Noel is one of the best rim protectors in all of the league.

I am just going by what I've seen in the 2 or 3 meetings the Celts have had against them.

have to agree.  Noel hasn't impressed me yet.  not enough to give up that pick.  Would rather get WCS or one of the SFs coming out that look like they could be our future go-to scorers.

now if the offer was for Embiid, who can play D and O as opposed to just D, then sign me up if he passes a physical

A Brooklyn 1st, KO and the return of Philly 1st* would probably get it done IMO. Have to think Embid and Noel then plus Towns/Okafor would be redundant. All are more effective staying close to the basket. It's basically three low 1st rounders and lottery 1st given where 76ers and Brooklyn are at.

I'd be ecstatic.  A Celtics front court of Kelly Olynyk and Nerlens Noel would represent my dreams come true.
DKC Seventy-Sixers:

PG: G. Hill/D. Schroder
SG: C. Lee/B. Hield/T. Luwawu
SF:  Giannis/J. Lamb/M. Kuzminskas
PF:  E. Ilyasova/J. Jerebko/R. Christmas
C:    N. Vucevic/K. Olynyk/E. Davis/C. Jefferson

I would do what I could to draft Porzingis, who will, in my opinion, be a far better pro than Noels.

I was thinking about this. Let's say we move clips, sully, and our #1 for Noel ( I think an overpay, but I understand why other people feel otherwise and the point of this post is just to get him in here with out losing KO) then young and KO develop into elite-very good offensive players (again, just bare with me)

Our line up could be thomas, smart, young, KO, Noel

Or: offense, defense, offense, offense, defense
