I am really not sure exactly how much cap space we'll have this summer.

I thought we were going to have over 30 mil available but maybe someone can clarify.

Having said that, now that it seems we have our backcourt set with Smart/Bradley/Thomas, I'd LOVE to see us go after two big guys this summer.

Two that come to mind (and admittedly another fan gave me this idea) are Greg Monroe and Roy Hibbert.

I think we should make Monroe our top target. Then, if Hibbert opts out hopefully we can get him too.

That would be a great lineup with Sully, Olynyk and Zeller coming off the bench.

PG-Isaiah/Smart
SG-Bradley
SF-Turner/Crowder
PF-Monroe/Sully
C-Hibbert/Zeller

Is this possible?

I think we have about 20 million with picking up crowder and taking into account our draft picks.  We could stretch Wallace which could get us to 28 million.  Still think we would be missing that dynamic scorer though....

I could see adding one of them to be the teams C, but not both.

Investing on Hibbert would be a disaster.

It really depends on what the draft bring us.

I agree. Inconsistent, not a very good rebounder, and bound to begin having more physical issues as he nears 30 with all that weight he's carrying around.

If Monroe doesn't stay in Detroit, he will go to LA or New York.  I don't think we have any realistic chance at getting him.

Hibbert will be overpaid and I'm scared he'll break down.  Also, with George coming back, they'll probably end up keeping him if their training staff says he'll hold up.  So basically I don't want him if he's available, if that makes sense.

Would much rather wait till next years offseason when we'd have this years rookie, and then next years pick along with brooklyns first and most likely Dallas first as well ridiculous amount of cap space, no Wallace.

Can go after KD, Damin Lilliard, Anthony Davis, Drummond, a Disgruntled star after another losing season ( Cousins)

I say 2017 we have a title contender. We'll get a star , or two to go along with
Smart
Young
kelly
Our draft pick this year
Isiah Thomas
Maybe Sully

Wow, both Hibbert and Monroe, you do have ambition.

Hibbert is an Aircraft Carrier, I don't know if he fits in with Stevens style of play. And sometimes he just disappears.
Monroe as the PF, I'm guessing you're not a Sullinger fan. I do like Monroe though.

Do we have this kind of cap space available?

ive liked monroe since seeing him play in college and thought it was a great pickup for the pistons during the draft
but he doesnt really fit us cuz of his defensive deficiencies

i dont like getting hibbert for us mainly cuz i dont really like him
he over sold me before in that miami series, where he dominated but has kind of flat lined ever since
hes a good rim protector and average rebounder and poor scorer

In theory, I could see Monroe and Hibbert making for a sort of Grizzlies East.  Poor mans version, for sure.

I don't think that's really a good way to go given who our coach is and the rest of the guys on our roster.  Plus, is that likely to work any better than it has for the Pistons?

For what it's worth, I think Hibbert will end up in NY and Monroe will stay in Detroit.

If the Celtics are gonna pay a premium for a big man this summer, it'll probably be Deandre Jordan.

Seems to me like we like bigs who can play the pick and roll and also range out and hit the outside shot.  TAlent obviously trumps certain things and  a guy like Monroe could fit but seems like a trend so far.

Plus is Detroit going to want to break that up when they have Monroe and Drummond?  They got rid of Josh Smith and Monroe might stay there.

If you think Lillard or Davis or Drummond will be available, you're going to be disappointed. They're all restricted free agents, and will not be let go by their teams.  KD probably isn't leaving OKC either, and if he is, he's not going somewhere that has less of a core than OKC.  C's should get one star this summer, and then bigger star in 2016.  Or give up on stars.  Waiting until 2016 to make a move will not present the move you hope for, however.

I'm happy with Monroe at Center.

Not the best interior defence, but how much interior D did Miami have when they won their last two titles? It's good to have, but doesn't mean you can't win without it.

My first priority would be going after Monroe, second priority wold be to chase a starting calibre SF.  Now that we have Smart, Thomas, Bradley and Sully we have the potential to be very good if we can add a nice SF and C.

Plus is Detroit going to want to break that up when they have Monroe and Drummond?  They got rid of Josh Smith and Monroe might stay there.

Not really up to them...Monroe has been very vocal about the fact that he will test free agency after this season and has no intention of coming back to Detroit.  Detroit can ether let him walk, or they can try to work out a sign-and-trade with a team he wants to go to so that they can get something back for him.

I would be super-happy with DeAndre Jordan manning the middle. This would mean that our next big pick-up would need to be a big time scorer at the wing, but at least we would have a direction, an expiring contract in Wallace, and tons of picks to make that happen.
