Who am I missing?

Help me out here:

C - Vucevic
PF - Thad Young/Lavoy Allen
SF - Andre Iguodala
SG - Evan Turner/Meeks
PG - Jrue Holiday/ Lou Williams

This team would probably be a top 5 team in the East and be in good position to continue to improve.

While I really don't think the 76ers tanking is going to work out for them, I don't think that team is very good either. Vucevic is a really nice piece and I also think Thad Young is underrated, but Iggy is already declining and a backup so they would have needed to do something much better with him

He's still in his prime. He just turned 31 and is actually playing less efficiently off the bench than he was starting last year. He's being a good team guy.

That's definitely a playoff team, and with the right matchup, could win a playoff series.  It's a relatively inexpensive team, too, so they probably could have added a decent free agent.

I understand the gamble for Bynum, but man, that trade just didn't work out at all.

They gave up Iguodala to Denver, a 2017 1st rounder, Mo Harkless, and Vucevic to Orlando, and took on Jason Richardson's burdensome contract from Orlando.

Which has led to what may ultimately become the greatest tank of all time.

The Sixers may not ever get out from under, but with MCW, Noel, Embiid, Saric plus two 1sts (1 a top 5 for sure) in 2015, the Sixers really have a decent chance to build a contender within 3-5 years. A lot has to go their way, but I'd take where they are over a lot of bad or mediocre teams right now.

Smart is much better than MCW in my opinion. Who knows what Embiid will turn into after a year of hanging out with a bunch of 20 year old d leaguers injured with no incentive to win. (Weight gain, fights with training staff?).

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
That team makes the playoffs in a weak East but where do they get in the long run?
Who's the star?
Holiday and Turner have both proven to be underwhelming and Vucevic is good but nothing special on the defensive end.
Iggy would be iggy and Thad Young would still be a tweener SF/PF failing to live up to potential.

That team right there is the dictionary meaning of mediocrity.

If the 76ers didn't do the Bynum trade, the would have traded Iguodala for someone else.  Iggy was seen as an aging player who wasn't good enough to be a core superstar.  Some fans were disappointed that he was not capable of being a go-to scorer.  The team thought they needed to deal him to give more space for Jrue Holiday and Evan Turner to develop.

not a championship caliber team so what is the point.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

That trade didn't work out for Denver or the Lakers either. Ironically the Magic made out the best long term.
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

Many would have said the same thing about the Hawks or Warriors at the beginning of the season.

I still wouldn't call the Hawks a championship caliber team.
The Warriors are closer with that record in the West. The Hawks would be 3rd or 4th in the West, kinda like last years Blazers fake run but on another level.

The advantage they have going for them is that their uptempo style shouldn't get too slowed down come playoff time unless they meet the Grizzlies or Spurs. It will certainly be harder for them in 7 games vs anyone from the West if they do make the finals.
In fact the one team they match up with well on both ends are the Warriors lol.

I'm still taking the Grizzlies, Spurs and possibly Thunder over the Warriors until I see them pull a series out vs Spurs or Memphis at full strength.

How do you feel now that MCW has been shipped out for a 1st rounder and Philly dumped KJ because they're afraid to pay him?
