I wonder what they want for him. You'd give up a lottery pick for Jackson? We probably make the playoffs with him but I would put a top 3 pick protection on it. Just in case.Would we?I don't think guard play is our issue. Furthermore his brand of guard play doesn't exactly open up new strengths for our team.

Quote from: foulweatherfan on February 18, 2015, 03:22:32 PMNever know which rumors are true, but with all the chatter around Lawson, Dragic, and now Jackson, it really looks like Danny is shopping hard for a PG. Which implies we don't think Smart is ready to play full-time PG, at least not now and possibly not ever.I still think the most likely outcome is that we don't get any of those guys, but it seems pretty informative on what the front office thinks about the current backcourt.EDIT: Hpantazo more or less beat me to this point I see.I think we just need more ball handlers on this team. I'm not sure it's a negative on Smart. We just don't have many guys who can get into the lane and score.

We figured out Bradley couldn't play PG last year but resigned him anyway, and he doesn't have nearly the upside of Smart.

He's a UFA and reportedly just targeting glamor markets, Sacramento couldn't have any reasonable expectation of resigning him.

I think he could play well along with Reggie Jackson OR Dragic. I think Bradley is the one who is on the out - especially on a very good contract.
Danny is in on every point guard potentially available. He clearly doesn't see Smart as a point guard, and must have felt Rondo's best days are behind him and/or has too many flaws to invest in long term
Reggie is known to have turned down a Kemba type offer from OKC (4 yrs, $48 million). He wants more & believes he'll prove worthy over time.

I don't see Smart developing completely at the 1. He's a 2.
