Hi PierceTruth34, I'm not against looking into getting Ty Lawson.  He certainly could be a valuable addition to this team, but I guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't think he's worth as much as Zach Lowe or most others in this thread think.

I don't think he is either. It would have to be part of something bigger. That's what I was saying before.  If we can put together a sure thing or whatever.  I don't think Ty Lawson alone and just trading for him and giving up valuable assets with no plan in sight for Ty Lawson is the answer.

I certainly value defense, which is why I'm so optimistic about Smart.  But what is special about 45/35/75?  In today's game those numbers, especially the 35% from 3-pt, are not all that good.

Whether his shooting has gone down "just slightly" or not, they've still gone down.  He became a starter in 2011-2012 when he averaged 34.8 minutes/game.  During that season he averaged 16.4ppg on 48.8 fg% and 36.5 3pt%.  Now in 2014-2015 he is averaging 16.9ppg on 44.7 fg% and 36.0 3pt%.  That's a 4.1 fg% drop, which is more than just slightly in my opinion.  But most of all, his scoring has been trending downward.  I still stand by my opinion that I don't want to trade valuable assets for a player who is at best not improving.

Not saying it's special on it's own. He's no Steph Curry, no doubt. However, I don't think there are more than 10 point guards in the league with his combination of scoring, passing and defense. Look at any of the past 5 seasons and see how many points guards have averaged 15 points and 8 assists in a season. It's usually 3-4 guys and not all of them repeated. Maybe another 3-4 guys who score a lot more like a Curry or Westbrook. So offensively, he's at worst maybe top 8-10.

Obviously you don't have to love him or trade for him (it ALWAYS depends on the cost), but you're cherry picking numbers to say he's on the decline. You can't cite slightly lower shooting percentages and then ignore going from 6.6 assists to 10.1, all the while shooting 50% more free throws, turning the ball over less, and posting a career-high PER with defenses keying on him for a lousy Denver team.

If we get Lawson and there is something to these Boogie rumors.  Then we go hard after a scorer this summer like Butler.  Just reading the threads here and rumors.  But Lawson, Butler, Boogie, Sully.  I would possibly move Smart for something like that. Probably far fetched but what else is new.  Kanter is out there too.  I don't know.  He isn't in Boogie's class but interesting nonetheless.  Ainge usually does something completely else so who knows.

Sac wanted Smart in the draft.  Would they move Boogie for Smart and KO. Could we get Lawson for Bradley, picks and filler? Then go after  Butler this summer?

Lawson
Butler
Prince/Young
Sully
Boogie

I wonder if Danny initiated the interest or vice versa.

He's not going anywhere

Just like Rondo wasn't going anywhere?

Lawson is not.  Celtics would need to give up Smart at least. Won't happen.

Lawson , Faried , Nurkic are staying unless they get paid

IF Denver was going to do a big firesale , Celts would be on top of the list in having a chance to get Lawson. A couple of 1sts for example could get the deal done

Trade Thornton , ET .

Smart will make Lawson look like junk in a couple years .

Nope. Per the article, Smart would NOT be included.
Before a game on Christmas against the Pacers, Bird told Chuck Person that he had a present for him. During the game, Bird shot a 3-pointer in front of Person. Immediately after releasing the ball, Bird said to Person, "Merry F!#*ing Christmas!" and then the shot went in.

Lawson and Faried for Bradley, Sullinger, and the Clippers pick. Or perhaps with more picks, it's tempting.

For Lawson and Faried, I'd throw in Smart on top of that... maybe try to keep Sully and flip Oly, instead.

Sources say Denver trying to move Ty Lawson and that Nuggets coach Brian Shaw wants his old Indiana pupil George Hill as replacement

^ I know it's Broussard but wow if true Nuggets management is truly the worst and Shaw is brainless. Might be one of the dumbest things I've ever read

Haha thought the same thing. Isn't Lawson a clear cut above Hill?

I would do that.

I also mentioned this deal
Celts get: Lawson, Faried and Afflalo
Nuggets get: Bradley, Turner, Bass, Thornton and 2 1st rounders.

What I like about Lawson and Faried is they are two guys you can easily build around and they can be part of our core for a long time.

Why do people like Faried so much?
