Boston and Denver have had exploratory talks about Lawson, per several sources.

Quote
Denver isn’t dealing Lawson unless it gets a bounty in return. Three teams stand out as potential suitors should they decide to go all in:

Boston. The C’s have a thousand draft picks, two big trade exceptions, and a bushel of interesting young guys. It’s unclear how interested they really are, and dealing for Lawson now would bring the risk of a semi-unwanted playoff appearance. Boston will not include Marcus Smart in any Lawson deal

That's odd.

Danny must feel he can possibly get Ty at what he considers a bargain.

Kind of surprised honestly...but he's been tearing it up lately.

Averaging 20 pts and 11 assists in the last 5.

Decent 3pt shooter at 37% for his career.

Of course, always depends on what is given up.

Not really a fan of small PGs though...

I would do Avery Bradley, Evan Turner, and two seconds for Ty Lawson.  Would you, would they?

We're not getting Lawson without giving up at least one first rounder, maybe two. Two seconds? Come on now. Denver hung on to Mozgov until two firsts cam about.

I'm not really sure what would interest us about Lawson though. A solid PG under a hefty contract for a few years. Sure he playing great basketball but how he helps a rebuild I am not sure of. But hey, I'd take him.

Is Danny saying Marcus Smart isn't the point guard of the future? Because getting Lawson sure isn't a good sign. I'm a little confused on this one.

I absolutely want him in a Cs uniform....especially if you don't have to give up Smart.
Before a game on Christmas against the Pacers, Bird told Chuck Person that he had a present for him. During the game, Bird shot a 3-pointer in front of Person. Immediately after releasing the ball, Bird said to Person, "Merry F!#*ing Christmas!" and then the shot went in.

I dont love the idea but could see a Lawson, AB, Smart 3 guard rotation being very effective with Marcus coming off the bench playing big minutes. DA may be finding himself in a tough spot as the rest of the east is so bad that his tanking team is rising in the standings. A lawson trade would be an acknowledgment that his young coach and team is playing to good to land an elite top end lottery talent and that picks 10-18 are similar enough not to warrant losing.

Maybe this works in a 3 team deal

Cs get Lawson

Denver gets I Thomas, Turner Clippers pick, Dallas pick (from rondo trade)

Suns get Chandler

Why,

Cs, they get a youngish (27) penetrating PG to pair with AB and Smart in back court. He gives then a clear leader on offense and would likely push them into 8th seed (not sure thats a good idea). This would also give Marcus at least 1.5 seasons as a PG under study while getting minutes on a team trying to win. Could be a real positive in his and Young's development.

Suns, they fix their rotation by swapping a good PG for a good SF

Denver, clears out major cap space and adds picks without a huge drop off in talent.

Agreed, I dig Ty Lawson, would enjoy him in Green.

Like every other big-name trade possibility, it's unlikely this works out, but it seems a lot more plausible than Cousins.  Denver's itching to blow it up and we've got the kind of assets they might want.  At a good price I'd love to see us pick up Ty.

Lawson and Faried for Bradley, Sullinger, and the Clippers pick. Or perhaps with more picks, it's tempting.

Agreed.  Acquiring Cousins is, for all intents and purposes, an impossibility at this point in time, whereas I'd imagine Lawson is readily available so long as a team is willing to meet the Nuggets' asking price.

I think the C's would only deal for him if they feel like they are getting an undervalued asset. If we can add a long term piece at a good price then by all means. If the C's might make the playoffs and not get a lottery pick anyway why not add a long term piece.

Lawson could easily play next to Smart or Bradley and the way he pushes the pace fits with how Stevens wanted the team to play at the beginning of the year.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

How about we go big

Celts get: Lawson, Faried and Afflalo
Nuggets get: Bradley, Turner, Bass, Thornton and 2 1st rounders.
