I don't think anyone is giving up on Avery. He's part of the future of this team, I just don't think he should or will be a starter very much longer if he doesn't expand his game. He's too small, too limited of a game, not consistent enough. He has quickness, except he doesn't dribble the ball well. He has no other shot except the jump shot. He's not a good passer at all. He's is a spot up jump shooter that defends well.
But, I will say this, he's a worker, I wouldn't be surprised if he got a little better every year. I believe he is a character guy.
He would be a nice guy off the bench as a shooter/defender to do a "heat check" on, and play hard defense for 18-22 minutes a game. Nothing wrong with that.
