i think he could potentially be a star but i wouldn't go on to say he is a superstar

i mean when i think superstar, im thinking multiple all stars, a no 1 or 2 option on a contender, future HOF, a guy that can carry his team by himself e.g. KG leading a talent poor timberwolves to the WCF

There are only a handful of superstar players e.g. lebron, durant, anthony davis etc.

Russell doesn't have the athleticism to warrant that potential and he doesn't stand out in any one skill compared to other prospects that became superstars.

I'm still high on him and believe that he is the best PG prospect in this years draft.

i think ainge will kill the team... he wants a more ping pong balls... and i have a feeling that we will get lucky this time.........................
I was thinking about this last night.  What if we sold high on Sullinger?  He's our best player.  He's the guy we can probably least afford to lose.  He's very easy to trade on his rookie deal and a lot of teams would be interested.  His value will never be higher than it is now.  His work ethic is under question -- late for practice a couple times.  Didn't he have a domestic assault a while back?  Gorman and Scal have even been remarking about his pouty body language.  Maybe he's the piece that doesn't fit.  Anyways, just throwing it out as a "what if".  I still maintain that Sully and KO will never be able to co-exist on defense.  What if we could use Sully to turn that Clipper pick into a lotto pick?

Suppose for the sake of argument we package our #1 (let's say its 10), the Clips pick (let's say 21) and Sully. How high could we move up? Could we get into the top 5?

Or, suppose Sac ends up with #6. Would they take Sully or KO plus #10 for that? Would it be worth it?

I just think we need to start trying to trade all these dimes for some quarters.
if anyone can do it, its ainge. i think it would be possible to move up from #9-10 to #5-6 spots. what would be the cost? at least another first round pick, maybe philly's second round as well.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I think 6th is the absolute lowest he could slide, but probably goes 2nd.

Knicks - okafor
Wolves  - Russell
sixers - Mudiay
Lakers - Towns
Orlando - st. Johnson
Utah - Hezonja

I don't see any way he drops out of this group.  We need some luck from the ping pong balls.

Ugh, hate seeing the Lakers pick before us, especially since they need a big too. If Magic take SJohnson maybe we can grab Tobias Harris the draft WCS??

Smart,
AB/ Young
Harris
Sully
WCS

Turner, Crowder, KO off the bench
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

I'd much rather Myles Turner than WCS. Theres no comparison in my mind.

I don't think he's in our draft range.  No I would not take him #1.  But 3-6, yes.  Why not, we could use a scorer.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
I'm watching his Ohio State play VCU in the Tournament.

GOD I WANT HIM! Anything it takes! Overpay, overtrade, anything! Let's get him. That kid is going to be special.

I agree. He looks pretty good but teams won't give up their top 3 picks unless we over pay for it. It would take something stupid like all 3 picks from the nets plus more.

At this point, I'd be willing to give that "something stupid" package to get him. Russell is going to be a James Harden type player. A guy who can score all over the floor, can distribute and can shoot. That to me is worth the stupid package.

It wouldn't hurt to add a potential superstar player in Russell, won't it? Heck, he's actually a perfect fit for Smart. Russell plays the SG spot but facilitates the offense.

Forget it, no one is going to trade us Russell for the No 10 pick and the role players on our team. Get real. Only way we get him is if we get a top 3 pick and we might not even be in the lottery. Remember that when we're getting cratered in the first round..

I don't care. Danny should atleast try his darndest to get him. Offer the future picks if need be.
