I had a question for everyone that had chance to watch this game. I was following along on gamecast on my commute and it seemed like every third play was a foul on the clippers.

While it was clear the Cavs were going to win the game regardless even if mr magoo was reffing, I was wondering if the reffing seemed really one sided to those that watched the game. At one point I believe the foul calls were something like 22-10 (in the third when I kind of stopped following and the game was out of hand).

The clippers definitely play a number of guys that play in the pain and draw fouls (Deandre, Blake) and then paul with his drives. Did the refs seems to be favoring the cavs from the get go?

The reason I ask, is I saw a number of games ruined over the last 4 years with Lebron and Wade getting every single foul call and seemingly being favored in some of their games. I had not noticed that happening with Cleveland this year and was really happy about it. I hope this is not a return to that form.

If you replace "she" with "he", the comments sound like he's criticizing a young official, not the gender of that young official.

But I'm sure some people can read minds and base their opinions on those findings.

Forget the he/she noise, crying in the post game about undeserved technicals is in this team's blood.

Read this. This whole situation minus singling out one official all played out six weeks ago when they lost to the Nuggets. This is just what the Clippers do.

Gotta see the whole sequence though.

http://www.sbnation.com/nba/2015/2/5/7990179/watch-the-cavs-blow-up-for-4-techs-in-3-minutes-against-the-cavs

It starts with a bad tech by Mauer (raise your hand if you're surprised), followed by two worse ones by Holtkamp. If she thinks that's how it's gonna go down the road, no, it's not going to be for her.

T'ing up Jordan for yelling GD seemingly in no specific person's direction after that dunk was egregious, but at that point of the game it may have been a case of the Clipp's reputation preceding them. The ref, besides being a female is also a human being. Doc, Jordan,Barnes, and CP3 collectively spearhead the biggest cry-baby team on the planet currently. On top of that, they were getting blown away on TNT and contesting every single call. It's possible she may have reached her breaking point with them. While that's on her mostly, it's on them too to an extent for showing a general disrespect to the officials in basically every game they play in.

Even after that debacle, in the 2nd half Jordan clearly raked Mozgov across his arm and chest, got whistled, and jumped up and down with the disbelief of a Seahawks fan on Youtube watching the Butler interception. Doc Rivers spends half of an average NBA game showcasing his 'incredulous face'. These guys are not endearing to anyone except Clipper fans, and Paul dispensing career advice in the post game interview towards the officials isn't going to help anything.
I realize that the rulebook is written as if the game is played by robots. However, this rookie must learn rather quickly that it's not the way it's typically officiated.
"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."

There were a couple of calls that went the Cavs way but nothing egregious. The load of techs and the flagrant 1 call against Paul were not the best calls. But to be honest, once Cleveland started to pull away, LA started shooting a lot of outside shots and stopped going inside a lot, so that could account for the discrepancy.

The refs didn't lose this game for LAC. They weren't perfect and maybe Lauren Holtkamp has to develop thicker skin but the refs did a job that was about overall average to good other than those technical foul calls and that flagrant foul call.

Well, he showed he was racist when he wanted to fire vinnie (who led the team to their best record ever) and hire, specifically, a black coach

And now it seems he's also sexist

(Although he's probably neither, and just a big time complainer/whiner)

But thats none of my business

There's a strong argument to be made that the Clippers record happened in spite of VDN, not because of him.
Maybe

They cant seem to perform better than that year with even more talent though

More talent?  Doc the GM is not that good of a GM.
Well, blake got a lot better (3rd in mvp voting last year) deandre jordan got better. They have many good role players. I'd say they are a more talented team now

They may have had better role players with vinnie (maybe) but they are more talented when it comes to star power

P.S.  I've been a long time lurker here (it took me over ten years to post) and i've always enjoyed the heck out of your doc/ caveman sig.  So TP for that!

Also, for the record, the Clippers best record came under Doc.  ;)

Great post. To Chris Paul, the referees are so bad that he's never heard of anything like it before... once per week.

There's plenty of blame to go around in this one and neither of them has advanced their own cause.  We are, however, missing the point.  My letter to Adam Silver regarding the best course of action:

Dear Mr. Silver:

In this day and age of athletes getting away with anything and everything, you need to make a strong stand.  I would suggest that you suspend CP3 for the rest of the season.  In fact, just to show how seriously you take this blatant sexism, perhaps you should suspend Blake Griffin, too.  And while fans may argue that the Clippers would benefit, since they would surely end up in the draft lottery, it is important to remember that they don't have their own draft pick this year.  I forget who has their pick this year, but it is important that you take the action I recommend immediately.

Thanks,
Mike

On top of Paul's remarks, I don't hear Dirk and Monta Ellis standing up and defending the officials or the NBA as a league. Is Silver just going to let these prominent Mavs players display a blatant lack of respect and solidarity for the league without any punishment? Suspensions are in order if you ask me.

Typical outrage culture of the modern day American media and the PC police. Now referring to women as "she" or "her" is misogyny. What I feel he real misogyny is that we feel like we have to treat grown women with kid gloves at all times, that any criticism levied against women is labeled sexism and that people are ignoring the fact that she's made noticeable mistakes in her young career as a ref.

This is such a non story.

I immediately change my stance. Paul's comments were sexist and cannot be tolerated. How that locker room and coaching staff could allow him to utter those words is disgusting. In addition to the suspensions, they should also forfeit 25 wins. It's the only way to make sure this doesn't happen again.

from the little I've read, I do not think CP3 was trying to be sexist towards the ref. She was in fact a bad ref. From the small quote that I read

Quote
I think we have to show better composure, but at the same time some of [the technical fouls] were ridiculous. The tech that I get right there was ridiculous. I don’t care what nobody says, I don’t care what she says; that’s terrible.

There’s no way that can be a tech. We try to get the ball out fast every time down the court, and when we did that, she said, ‘Uh-uh.’ I said, ‘Why, uh-uh?’ And she gave me a tech. That’s ridiculous. If that’s the case, this might not be for her.

Like some of the above said, replace she with he or her with him, then this just sounds like a player criticizing a young ref. How can you T someone who is just trying to question you? Ridiculous. I don't like Cp3 and even I side with him on this one
