We can't clear the floors completely and bring in a whole new squad. It is better for the prospects of attracting quality talent if the players we have are proving themselves. Especially the wins we pick up against quality opposition or, to some extent, the close calls.
I know many will say tanking is a reality and teams do it so you are giving them a draft advantage if you don't follow suit. I would rather use every game to develop, assess and blend rather than tank.
Playoffs or a close miss looks better to a prospective buy than a team that looks like it needs a complete rebuild. We need our targets to see players they would like to play with here already. Sure, they may want to know who else is signing, but they need to see potential here too.
Or am I giving too much credit to the sense of the modern pro basket baller?
