Honestly, I will be dissapointed if the Celtics finish with the ninth or tenth pick. Thats means that they kept all their vets and all the young guys barely improved by the end of the season. Either hit that eight spot or drop to sixth. I don't think after player decisions are made that Oubre, Mario, or Johnson will be their at the tenth pick, most draft sites have Johnson 3-5.

The Cs could be at the 8th or 9th seed even if they do trade Bass, Prince and Thorton. Its less to do with the strength of the Cs and more to do with the number of teams not interested in winning.
true.  it's not like Bass, Thornton and Prince have been worldbeaters for us.  IF, a big IF, we end up that high in the draft it will be because the young players we have on the team played better than we hoped/expected.  That isn't necessarily a bad thing (except for those who live and die by getting the worst record to up the % of winning the lottery even though the team with the worst record has only won 3 times).

I don't think Willie Cauley-Stein will be any good. Actually, IMHO, I think he will be quite bad.

Best I could get for the C's was a jump to 2.

Thunder got the number one pick in that scenario.  :o

That's where the Nets picks come in ... next year we can all be done with tanking talk, as we root for the C's to win and the Nets to lose, lose, lose!

You know what?  I would be fine with that.  Okafor on a rookie salary would keep that team together and they're fun to watch, we'd have a back court of Smart and Mudiay or Russell on rookie deals, I mean there are worse scenarios for sure.  Scenarios like the Nets winning the lottery somehow and giving that picks to the Hawks, the Knicks winning and suddenly becoming good, the Kings winning and having Cousins become ungruntled/reguntled?  what is the word?

Anyways, top 3 is great and I'm fine with drafting Turner, Hezonja, Porzingis or Johnson with the 9th pick if it comes to that.

What I absolutely DO NOT WANT is to make the playoffs, draft 6'9" PF Cliff Alexander and get swept in the first round with Marcus averaging 4.3 PPG in the playoffs.  That is a nightmare scenario.

Vonleh(jury's out), Burke(meh), but then Drummond, Kemba, Hayward, Derozan, Noah were the #9 picks in preceding years. I'll take that purgatory.

Reading Chad Fords weekly chat he shed some light on S Johnson's ranking.

I think that might be a little high for Johnson, but it just depends on which scouts and GMs you ask. Johnson clearly has a NBA body, is ultra competitive and is having a very good freshman season for Arizona. But not everyone thinks he's a dominant NBA player at the next level. There's a real scrum between him, Kelly Oubre, Mario Hezonja and Justise Winslow. Most of the scouts I talk to think Johnson will be a good, but not a great pro. But there are few that see him in the Top 5. Will be interesting to see those four go at it in workouts in June."

Out of Oubre, Hezonja and Winslow I would think Johnson goes first but they all have different strengths so every team will likely have a differnt view.
I haven't seen Hezonja but I've seen several games of the other three.  I like Oubre and Winslow but I can't think of anything that either do significantly better than Johnson.  Johnson is the best defender and best rebounder of the bunch but is good offensively as well.  Johnson has shown good maturity and leadership but is actually the youngest of the four.  It looks like this mock lottery is slanted toward the big men.  At this point, I definitely wouldn't take Cauley Stein or Turner ahead of Johnson.

If they finish 9th w/o those guys then it would mean the kids have won them a few games, so that wouldn't be so bad.

I'd love Johnson.  I'm not sold on the other three.  Even if I were, the problem is we may end up with the 10th or 11th pick and a couple of the players might not actually declare for the draft.  So we could end up getting someone like Booker.

I just think Ryan Hollins, I know he's a different player but I would rather take Dakari Johnson with the Philly pick and spend the first pick on Mario/Russell/Johnson, someone who could turn into a go to scorer.

I bet Oubre will be the guy that rises up the draft board, maybe all the way up to four. he looks better with the more confidence he gets.

First try!
is it too shameful to ask for TPs?

http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-mock-draft/2015/

Doesn't really fit this thread put didn't want to start a new topic. This is the new draftexpress mock. #10 pick isn't ideal but wow the players they have the Cs landing would be great.

#10 Looney
#23 Grant
#33 Vaughn
#40 Baker
#51 Obekpa

That is a real talent grab, I especially like that D Johnson is projected early 2nd. Meaning a package of 2nds would land him in green in this scenario. Looney, Grant and Vaughn all have really nice potential.
