This is what I was saying to Grizz fans when the trade was going down -- it's not about how good Jeff Green is.  He's a perfectly fine wing with legitimate size for the SF position and the ability to score without holding onto the ball much.

He was a significant upgrade for the Grizz on the wing despite being just an OK player.  OK is a lot better than what they had, and now they're a much more well rounded team.

Nailed it.

i like lee when he was in boston
but i guess he never really did well in docs system

Why do so many guys seem to struggle in Doc's system?  Courtney Lee, just about every backup PG we brought in, Jared Dudley.  It seems like a lot of guys are good before and after they play for Doc, but struggle while they're with him.

At least in the case of Lee and Terry, it was Doc forcing them into the same plays and same shots as Ray, when neither plays the same way.  It was the same way with Nenad.  Doc just wanted him to be Perk and never took advantage of his far better offensive skills.

Green as a 5th or 6th best player is fine.   You just aren't going very far when he's the best player on your team.

That's a really good option to have as a 5th or 6th. Especially someone with his athleticism and scoring capabilities. He's not wired to be the main guy on a team, Memphis looks like a good fit because his skill set isn't redundant on that team.

Agreed, though I think Green is more than OK as a player.

Ever notice how Ainge usually trades his guys to Good Teams--?...Rondo, Green/Lee, Perkins, Antoine Walker (twice-Dallas/Miami)...even PP and KG to Brooklyn was supposed to give them a chance for another ring....He even traded his Head Coach to the Clippers.

Bad teams usually aren´t interested in veteran talent, good teams are.

Isn't he pretty clearly their 4th best player?

Gasol, Randolph and Conley are clearly superior players.

However, he is much better than Lee (that wasn't even a conversation when we had them both) and a 33 year old Tony Allen. Whoever thinks he is their 6th best player seems to be being a bit ridiculous.

Kinda interesting that 3 of their top 6 guys are former Celtics (Green, Tony Allen and Courtney Lee).  Lee is shooting 48%/46%/84% this season.

Should have kept Lee, and fired Bradley, i'm disgusted.

Lee was pretty underwhelming here. I think he and Green fare better when they're not one of the top 3 or 4 guys on a team. Same goes for Bradley.

And the Grizz were 26-11 before Green, which isn't exactly paltry.

To those who were dealing with the question of prospering in Doc's system (Born Ready, Koz, Roy), wouldn't it be safe to say that all the starters on the championship team thrived (or had useful roles) in Doc's system?  Couldn't it also be said that House, Posey (who also performed well in Miami) and Brown thrived?

OK, Lee had an off year when he was here.  He had a hitch in shooting motion, which nobody on Doc's staff diagnosed, but Ron Adams diagnosed and fixed it.  Also, playing with two quality bigs in Memphis opens up room on the perimeter so you have a symbiotic relationship between inside/out play, which he didn't exactly have in Boston.

I wonder if its a Doc thing?
Jared Dudley, a player with similar game as Lee, has made a similar turnaround after leaving Doc's system.
