Cool.

Love the comment on Gobert. That guy is the real deal.

Hoss (Austin)

Marcus Smart can shoot! Has your opinion/forecast changed?

Chad Ford  (1:21 PM)

We are talking about a pretty small sample size here. I'm not sure anyone is ready to call Marcus Smart the next Ray Allen. However, where he's really stood out to me is defensively. We knew this during the draft, but it's played out immediately in the NBA. Smart looks like a good bet to win Defensive Player of the Year someday. If he can shoot a respectable 37% or higher from 3? He's going to be an All-Star in the NBA for years.

Good read.

It appears the tiers this year are 1-3 and 4-12. Chad breaks those ones well.

Then we have another tier of 12 - 20 something - Kaminsky, Harrell, Dekker, Alexander, Portis - high floor, low ceiling guys.
"We do so many defensive drills in practice, I come home and I'm putting the press on my woman, denying her the ball.
Y'all are laughing, but it's sad. I go home and deny the wing."

Agreed with most of what he said, but can't envision Russell going before Mudiay. In fairness to Ford, he was more just entertaining that it was possible when asked. Also, I think the Wiz are still better than a healthy Cavs team.

What a difference it makes when Chad Ford does the NBA chat. Even if it's mostly about the draft. Those other guys make it seem like they are wasting their time talking to the readers.

Its more a topic for the Draft Chat, but I find it interesting how high Ford has been on Prozingis. This is a good sign that alot of teams really like him. The stronger the top 5 is the better for the Cs.

I also agree with his point of Hollis-Jefferson vs Winslow. With Winslows shot cooling off from a hot start they are looking like very similar prospects. Add to that the data breakdown draftexpress did showing how identical Hollis-Jeffersons stats are to MKG and I think both become interesting picks. I think Winslow falls and Hollis-Jefferson rises and they meet some where in the mid teens.

For sure. Since I don't usually follow college ball that closely, I get most of my prospect updates from there, limited as they may be. Ford knows his stuff when it comes to the draft.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

He's pretty good at defending the pick and roll. He's able to step over it and has the length and quickness to get back to his man. This is a dude that might cover as much ground as KG once did.

My problem with him is he doesn't seem to have any lift.

Porzingis has huge potential. All the things that Olynyk's biggest fans say he can do, it looks like Porzingis may actually be able to do, and he has moves in the post. He's a stick unfortunately, though a 19 year old one who can hopefully fill out.

From what I've seen Porzingis appeal is mainly that he's a match up nightmare at the 4 and very difficult to guard. Dirk-like game.

I read he's been pretty decent from three. I think the international three point line is closer. Right? Either way, a dude that big who can shoot is going to go quick.

Yeah he's at about 45% from 3. He also has nifty post moves and can beat the average big off the dribble, really polished for 19.
