I compiled a list of the top possible free agents I would like the Celtics to choose from this off season. Who would you sign?

+ Celtics 2015-16 current committed salaries are at ~$35 million
+ 2015-16 NBA cap expected to be ~$66 million giving the Celtics approximately $30 million in cap space
+ Boston also has 2 large TPE's $12.9 million(Rondo) and $5.0 million (Wright) and one smaller one $2.4 million (Rivers) that can be used for sign and trades.

Current salary in brackets  R- restricted

Al Jefferson [13.5]
Jimmy Butler [R- 2.0]
Rajon Rondo [12.9]
Monta Ellis [8.4]
Kevin Love [15.7]
Tyson Chandler [14.8]
L. Aldridge [16]
D. Jordan [11.4]
M Gasol [15.8]
Millsap [9.5]

Bench FA's
KG [12]
PP [5.3]
Gerald Green [3.5]
Monroe [5.4]

I would sign Jordan 14/yr Ellis 16/yr, Trade a 2nd for KG use 5 million TPE.

Smart/??/Pressey
Ellis/Bradley/Young
Crowder/Turner/Wallace
Sully/Olynyk
D Jordan/Zeller/KG

Personally

I'd make a run for Jimmy Butler (not sure if he'll leave given the situation in Chicago looks pretty good)
Kevin Love
L. Aldridge (doubt he'll leave as well, him and Lillard are playing out of their minds right now)
D. Jordan
Gasol

Smart/Jimmy/Crowder/Aldridge/Gasol(Or Jordan) is a very good start for fireworks in the summer.

Don't forget Kwahi. Unlikely, but he's definitely on the market

Forget about FA's. Most people here wanted Rondo and Green to go. Now don't complain. Our full rebuild is for 2018, 2019, 2020.
It's nice seeing him get exposed as overrated after having argued with fellow fans for years that he was overrated.. but I don't hate him. I'm looking forward to seeing him [...] bounce around to a couple more teams... eventually come back to Boston[...] and helps us as a role player until he runs himself out of the league.

I think it's going to depend on how the lottery shakes out.  If the C's get lucky and land the first or second pick.  I could see them throwing money at a guy like Jimmy Butler.  If they don't win the lottery and they are picking in the 4-8 range and they end up with Winslow, Russell or Johnson I could see them throwing money at Jordan...

Either way if Gasol hits the market you have to at least talk to the guy and gauge his interest...

Our motto should be only guys who play on both ends of the court if we are going to spend bigtime cash.

Offer Kawhi and Butler max contracts.  If their team is reluctant to match, maybe we can work out a sign and trade.  Im sure we can put together the right amount of contracts, young players, and picks to make them think about it.

You're missing several players we could target... such as Jeff Green, Omer Asik, Brandon Knight, Aaron Afflalo, Wesley Matthews and many many others:  http://hoopshype.com/free_agency_2015.htm

We could still sign Rondo and Green if we want... but now we have 6+ draft picks from trading them and several options if we'd rather build around different players.

if WE want?  not likely.  THEY are highly unlikely to want to resign here next year.  Green, probably ever.  Rondo, 99% unlikely unless he's looking to retire a C.

  • Celtic's only raise championship Banners
I personally think we are not ready to sign a free agent in 2015. I would wait on 2016 and sell the top FA's that we can sign at least 2 of them.

What we need to do now is create a great foundation: draft really well, get rid of Avery's contract for 2016(James Young or other guys will step up), player development, and some luck and good trades.

Any of those except for Jefferson.
