I'm going to keep making these threads.  Someone said he isn't a pg the other day.  He's solely running the point with the second unit solely so far this game.  Doing a nice job.  He's still not being aggressive taking it to the basket and is more just trying to learn how to run an offense and doing a nice job so far this game.  It's there though.  It's only a matter of time.  No doubt in my mind Marcus is a point guard.  This is a good matchup too for him with the second unit going against Evans and now Jrue.  Two bigger guards.  Evans is a combo guard and similar body type. Smart is a legit pg ultimately.  Some people see Smart like Evans I feel. He isn't tyreke Evans.

If he's a poor man's Tyreke Evans that's fine with me.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

Making game winning plays and defense he is going to be better t han Evans. I think Smart is a very different player than Evans.   Evans is not a fundamentally sound player and does not understand the game like Marcus does.  He's a stat stuffer and more a scorer.

This past draft was a overhyped too.  These guys are going to take time,  but as far as a quality pg smart is going to be very good.

Smart is being very unselfish right now and parts of his game are still developing.  Tyreke Evans doesn't understand what unselfish means.

Marcus knows this season is more about development and is just letting the game come to him.

Whenever Marcus is on the floor, whether he is getting stats the Celtics are a better team than when Turner is out there.

He should be starting soon but not sure if the Celtics will do that or just let him learn off the bench.

He's primarily a halfcourt pg right now.  His shot isn't full there yet and neither is his aggression offensively.

He's still a guy who absolutely knows how to run an offense.  Tyreke Evans couldn't run an offense if he tried.

He also knows how to move off the ball.  Rondo had his style and was overrated in the halfcourt. He was better in transition. But Marcus is going to be more a complete player.

Marcus doesn't have to be a big time scorer, or assist king. He's so infectious to other players in his style of play. Get used to hearing, "Marcus got a hand on it"

He keeps getting better, looking forward to see him continue to grow as a player the rest of the season.

I get your point but lets hope he's much more.

I say he's a combination of Dwayne Wade and Chris Paul.  8)

plus he's clutch.  The ball seems to go in the hoop at the right times.  I see him more like a cross between Dennis Johnson and Mark Jackson.  I think he's going to be an assist king and a scorer.  He's a classic halfcourt pg imo and can do so many things.  Much less limited than rondo. Rondo's style was more to play free in the full court. He also knew how to find the big 3 off cuts and curls and run an offense that way. Smart is different. He actually runs a much less predictable offense in the halfcourt.

He can post up too and score that way.  I hope he develops that part of his game.

Smart will be a hall of fame player imo if he's healthy.  Doc Rivers. Dennis Johnson.  Mark Jackson.  Fringe hall of famers who should be in the hall imo who played with other great players and were unselfish.  Smart should be even more of a leader and clutch than some of those guys imo.

I think we have 2 hall of fame players already on this team in Smart and Sully. Call me crazy but just watch.

This team matures and wins enough we may already have more than that.  I love our young guys though. We need a couple pieces.  a center and a big time scorer.  But our young nucleus is young but going to be really good.

Smart's stats for tonight are horrid. The 6 assists and 0 TOs are nice, but that's it. No rebs. Bad shooting. 5 fouls. No blocks. One whole steal.

Very very blah.

I don't care about "infectious" or "intensity" or  funny feelings in knees or effort or "clutch".  Let's see efficient shooting, rebounds, etc. Things that can be measured. I grant you Jrue didn't play well but Smart was absolutely not a big reason for the win tonight.

So your not a real big fan of effort, team work, or chemistry. Your kind of a Carmelo fan, thats cool.

This is basically how I see and feel about M Smart

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yXiWZyJL90

He's like Rondo if you make him a 5% better shooter, take away all the point guard instincts, take away the rebounds, but exert a lot more effort accomplishing a lot less. He's like one of those cars that sorta sounds loud and drives at high rpms, but gives a less smooth ride. I've been watching Rondo for a decade and now I have to watch a bull in a china shop or something. Well. He plays hard.

No. When I watch the NBA I like to see NBA basketball players but Smart is more of an Oklahoma Stater. But he plays hard. He always plays hard.
