Do they make 7 footers like Robert Parish any more?  Where can we get one?  Guys that are made of stone and barbed wire, who run the floor, dominate the paint, make FT's and don't know what a 3 pointer is.  I don't need Hakeem's moves or Kevin Love's 3 point shooting or crazy athleticism.  I just want a guy who can "walk, chew gum", kick a$$ down low, out work everyone, and not have hands or touch like Kendrick Perkins.

Do any of these college kids project as this kind of guy?

I wouldn't mind picking him if we moved up into the late lottery with other picks and he is still there, but no way would I take him in the top 5-8 picks.

I like WCS a lot, but this is my opinion as well.

I'm with you guys. I know we REALLY need a center, but the "BPA concept" must be taken seriously. Sometimes it's hard, I know. "We took Smart, we don't need Mudiay". Because of this Portland didn't draft MJ - they already had Drexler.
It's nice seeing him get exposed as overrated after having argued with fellow fans for years that he was overrated.. but I don't hate him. I'm looking forward to seeing him [...] bounce around to a couple more teams... eventually come back to Boston[...] and helps us as a role player until he runs himself out of the league.

I'm not sure why WCS is getting comparing to Brandan Wright. Wright is 210, while Cauley-Stein is 244.

In the modern NBA, a center's biggest role is to protect the paint. The NBA is becoming a more perimeter oriented game. Other than Dwight and Gasol there aren't many Centers that scare you down low on the box.

His ability to roll hard to the rim, block shots and stop penetration by switching onto smaller players makes him an ideal fit for the NBA. If this was the 90's then I would be much more worried about him weighing 244, but that simply isn't the way the NBA is trending anymore.

To say that WCS fills team needs isn't to say that he does it at the expense of upside. He is a supreme athlete who hasn't been asked to do more than block shots and rebound at the NCAA level, he could easily grow a lot at the NBA level. His best comp (imo) is DeAndre Jordan who took a long time to develop and didn't hit his stride until he was 24. Cauley-Stein has plenty of upside.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Tyson Chandler would have done a lot more in 3 years in the NCAA. He was so way ahead of WCS at the same age. I think Sam Dalembert would be a more likely projection.

He's 7 feet tall, he can walk and chew gum, and he may be available. What's not to obsess about?

So is Fab Melo.
Yep, and that's why we picked him.

Brandan Wright hasn't been 210 lbs. for a very, very long time.

This is what Brandan Wright looked like when he was 210 lbs:

This is what he looked like in 2013.

Sounds like Colton Iverson.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

Well, Parish's playing weight was only 230 lbs so...

Sorry, but Melo could not walk and chew gum at the same time.

WCS is mobile for his size.

Melo was pretty mobile himself, he just didn't know how to play basketball.

Right, well... a couple thoughts on that.
1. today's athletes are bigger
2. Parish would eat their lunch anyways.  He was strong as an ox at 230.  Massive broad shoulders.

Brandan Wright hasn't been 210 lbs. for a very, very long time.
Espn has him listed as 210. Basketball reference has him listed as 205. Wikipedia has him listed at 209. NBA.com has him listed at 210. Sweet pictures though.

Tyson Chandler didn't really develop until he got to New Orleans at the age of 24. When he was 23 he only played 26 minutes a game and averaged 5.3 points. Cauley-Stein is 21 now. Both Chandler and DeAndre took a long time to develop. It is good that WCS stayed in college 3 years otherwise it was unlikely he would positively contribute until after his rookie deal was over. Now that he has played more, I think he will be be fully established by the time his rookie contract is over.

I don't think WCS is comparable to DeAndre Jordan because Jordan had a much bigger frame. Jordan combined both the quickness and mobility of a Tyson Chandler, the strength and bulk of Kendrick Perkins and explosive leaping of a Dwight Howard. Physically, he was incredible.

WCS doesn't have the strength and power of D.Jordan. He is a skinny quick footed agile center who should be compared to other skinny quick footed centers.

Actually, Fab could, and did, straight into a bathroom door (and with maximum effect!).
