Hinkie has gotten a ton of flack for what he's done in Philadelphia, but is what Ainge currently doing that much different?

Because Ainge got more picks?

Honestly, you make a good point. I dont know the answer to this. I'm interested in what everyone is going to say.

Has Hinkie gotten flack?  I think Hinkie is brilliant.  I've been very jealous of the job he's done with the 76ers.  They have 4-5 players with superstar potential.  So far Boston has 0, but that could change in the next several years.

Nope

Ainge is tanking the team right into the ground.

No different than Hinkie.

Nah DA is in tank mode too but I will say this, at least we came away with assets from sending out our players, Philly got nothing I can think of for all of their players they shipped out.
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

It really isn't, but I think in Hinkie's case it was compounded by drafting 3 guys in 2 years who couldn't even play the year they were picked. The picks were sound and defensible, though.

Much better quality in addition to quantity. Sixers were selling off their vets for pennies on the dollar just to be bad. Danny has been getting much better value for his players, and he did the trades to get more assets rather than just to tank and be bad. I think there's a big difference between the picks Danny has attained and the 2nd rounders Hinkie settled for.

EDIT: I forgot about the Holiday trade. He did get good value for that one.

Respectfully asking, but who on that roster is one of those 4-5 with "superstar" potential?  MCW?  Noel?  Embiid?

Tony Wroten is a gunner.  Robert Covington was pulled off the d-league scrap heap, and is right now their BEST scorer on most nights.  I mean, that's it...  I don't see ONE player on that roster with "superstar" potential...

Other than Noel who is a big question mark, who do they have that has more potential than Smart? I don't think Noel has a higher ceiling, and I definitely don't think MCW or Saric do either.

One difference: Hinkie got excellent value when he traded his all-star PG. ;)

Embiid is the only one with realistic superstar potential.

Ainge keeps his word?

Yeah, why pick this particular battle?  AK47 has very little value, and you're potentially burning future bridges with players and agents.

Ainge never spent 3 first round picks on guys who were injured/playing overseas.

What did he get for a pg wanting a max deal, coming off knee surgery, & not even top 10 at his position ?
