I know some of you are knowledgeable fans, but some of you are simply not. Smart has been shooting over 40% from 3 the last 13 games, not even including tonight's good shooting night. Yes, he should be driving more, but that is not his strength RIGHT NOW. I simply do not like fans who make assumptions based on the common belief of most people, or "circle-jerk."

Wall, Rose, Parker could all not shoot when they entered the league, AT ALL. This kid has shown ALREADY serious improvement. And stop with the "he's not a point guard" crap. Positions barely matter in the league anymore, he is simply a great BASKETBALL player.

Give the kid some time to develop PLEASE. He's a WINNER.

No, that's too 2014. Now people say that he can't attack the rim.
It's nice seeing him get exposed as overrated after having argued with fellow fans for years that he was overrated.. but I don't hate him. I'm looking forward to seeing him [...] bounce around to a couple more teams... eventually come back to Boston[...] and helps us as a role player until he runs himself out of the league.

Smart couldn't shoot in college. He couldn't shoot to start the year.  For the last 13 games, he's shown huge improvement, but are people really "simply not" knowledgeable fans just because they're using a few years worth of shooting over 13 games worth? I agree that Smart seems to have improved, but we need more games before we'll know for sure. There's no need to insult people for not being convinced yet.
I'm bitter.

I guess I was a little harsh, but the circle-jerks just kill me here. lol

He's never going to be a 25 PPG type of player. So if your heart is set on that type player, look elsewhere.

Smart will be a valuable player in that he's going to have so many "play's of the game" under his belt yearly.

Don't forget something, what's he played 20 games!

He is improving. Unlike Pressey.

I think he does really good, he is expending lots of energy on D......and still knock down a few ...it's all good.

Smart is not a point guard.

I would much rather see Pressey backing up Turner.

The problem with the OP is that Smart couldn't shoot. People were correctly discussing his skillset.

This does not mean that he won't develop as a young player. We expect that he will. But he was a bad shooter.

We also should not go too crazy over small sample sizes. Small sample sizes are partly responsible for Josh Smith's thinking he should shoot from 3.

There are very few of those left in the league. I do think if Smart can eventually get 36-40 minutes per game he could easily be an 18-8 or even 20-10 guy. Depends on how well he develops and how much court time he gets.

Hope you're right, I haven't seen it yet, and I believe that if he's going to be that guy, we should have seen glimpses of it by now.

Turner's not a point guard either.

But hey, its tankapalooza 2015. starting Turner at point and having Pressy be his back up definitely allow us to lose more games than any other combination.

Funny... folks used to gloss over Rondo's 2-7 or 3 -12 nights because he had 12 rebounds and 9 assists.   Turner had 7 dimes and 15 rebounds (only two TOs) and he is garbage.

If you just put up the weekly stats of those to and hid their names you couldnt tell them apart on most nights.

Smart is really settling in! Through six game this month he is averaging 8.5 pts, 3.5 assists while shooting 47% from the field and 43% from three. Last night he had some nice drives including one with a spin and a nice left handed finish. He is starting to get his legs, he is morphing into the guy they need. He will keep rising as the season goes on....

He has shown some improvement but he is still shooting . 398 From the field and .35 from trey land for the year.  He had a horrible shooting November and a poor December but anything would be an improvement over that November.

Very respectable in January, here is hoping he can maintain it.  I don't think he will but I will be happy anytime he is  above  .45% from the field.
