this team is still a few years away from even sniffing the playoffs

Everything else you said was spot on, but this is sadly not true. This current mess could simply string a few wins together and be in the playoffs. This current Eastern Conference landscape is just historically bad.

We certainly WOULD have made the playoffs if we stuck with Rondo and set that as our goal. It's obvious we are tanking now, which only about 7 teams appear to be doing in the NBA right now (4 in the East). Making the playoffs was entirely possible and probable. Miami and Indiana are terrible. We've shown we can compete with the best in the East but now choose not to.

It's depressing, but given where we are, it'll be good to trade off spare parts and get some loose change for them. It's gonna be a long season.

And what does sliding into the 8th playoff spot 10 games under .500 get you? Besides putting you behind 5 or 6 western conference teams that are better than you.  It certainly doesn't put us closer to an eventual championship.

If we string some games together and back into the playoffs, fine. However, I wouldn't make that  "the goal" and make short-term moves. "The goal" is to contend for championships not contend for playoffs.

This makes sense bc Wright never really seemed to be a logical get.  We are just simply collecting assets.  We move him for another asset (probably another pick).  Eventually we will use the picks in a bigger trade and/or hit it big with some of the draft selections.  Tear it all down and build it back up...It began with the PP/KG trade and it will take time.  Patience...
Let’s go Celtics!!

Such an idiot

Trades Rondo for nothing. Could've had Mozgov for a couple picks. Now is looking to trade one of the players he got back in the Rondo trade.

Makes sense ::)

So keeping Wright would make you feel better about a Rondo trade that you conspicuously loathe?

I feel like there's no direction to what Ainge is doing.

You can't be serious. I've never seen a rebuilding team with this many assets. Especially draft assets.

I'd rather Danny stress operative flexibility and value than constrain the team with a narrowly-defined direction.

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

Cap space: $24 mil.

Lol. He's an absolute legend. I love it. Every one needs to know they're expendable. Otherwise, there will be a sense of loyalty within our organization and, as a result, we may end up attracting FAs someday.

He's the biggest joke of a GM I've ever seen. Are there worse GMs? Sure. Is he a complete idiot with no sense of how to manage people and maintain a semblance of loyalty/good vibes? Absolutely not. I'd prefer to be on the 6ers. Flame away, don't care. Probably won't respond/entertain comments. I've said this a million times - just a circular argument. Just like to point out every time he's a moron.

edit: bet aingeforthree attacks first.
If a trade is imminent, why is letting a player know a bad thing? Won't players be more likely to view that as showing respect for the player? This is also a guy who has barely spent any time on the team.

Using this as an opportunity to criticize Ainge the way you have make little sense. Sounds like you just have an axe to grind and will spin anything he does.

Yep, you're right. TP. Haha. I just have a strong dislike for him, take any opportunity I can find. This was a poor one, admittedly - If I were getting traded, I'd probably want to know rather than be blindsided.

Huh? Are you serious? "No direction"? Repeatedly trading players for draft picks isn't a clear direction? I could imagine a lot of criticisms, but that one seems like willfully ignoring events.

You can disagree with the prudence of his direction, but be reasonable please.

My jaw dropped to the floor when [in a very negative way] you pointed out the Ainge was a Mormon at the end of your 2nd paragraph.

But then I re-read it and saw that you actually said moron  :D

Having just saw, "Book of Mormon," a few days ago, it must just still be fresh in my head.

Nah, I'm not that awful of a person. I would actually wanna know if I was going to be traded too, rather than be blindsided. I just strongly dislike Ainge  :P

TP to you too.

Don't worry. There will be other moves that will give you the opportunity to criticize him no doubt. That is the life of a GM.

Figured that this would happen...was holding out hope that perhaps he'd stick, but hey -

etc, etc, etc....

Here's hoping our "Lean Years" this time around is not as long as the period that featured the above players.

At least Dino Radja was quite an accomplished player in Europe.  The only problem with him was that he came over, what, 4-5 years too late, lol? ;D  Ugh.

As to the title of this thread, isn't it pretty much understood around the league that once you become a Celtic you're on the trading block (well, as long as Ainge is here, anyway)?  I just thought that it would be universally known by now, lol. ::) ;D  Sigh.

So I am reading links that say we are working on a deal to send Wright to Phoenix for a #1 pick.  Don't see them anywhere else so not sure if they are real?

5:07pm: The Suns will waive Tony Mitchell in order to clear a roster spot for Wright, Paul Coro of The Arizona Republic reports (Twitter link).

4:39pm: The Suns are set to acquire center Brandan Wright from the Celtics, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports (Twitter links). Phoenix will be sending Boston the first-round pick that it owns from Minnesota, Wojnarowski adds. The pick is top 13 protected this season, and top 12 protected in 2015/16, and if it does not convey by the 2016 NBA draft, then the pick will turn into two second-rounders, Ben Rohrback of WEEI 93.7 FM notes (Twitter link). Phoenix currently has 15 players on its roster, so a corresponding move will need to be waived prior to completing the deal.

Well, at least Suns are on a 4 game winning streak, currently 8th seed. Imagine OKC will be coming, though...
